Congratulations to those with NOA2. Welcome to NVC

Thank you! NVC confuses the hell out of me. I'm going to start calling Friday or Monday to see if I have a case number yet...but I see on your timeline "NVC received case." How do you know when it's been received?

I have been watching/lurking this site since I filed. Many of you have been extremely supportive of your fellow filer/petitioners and though I genuinely had no intention of joining, I felt it necessary - with some reluctance - to share some information. I just received the text message alerting me to my approval. I really do feel [sorry] for the July filers (and others) who have not received approval and have waited so long, but in the positive words of many of your fellow filers: your day is coming - soon. I assume now that it will be about 6-13 days before I receive the NOA2 (the letter announcing my approval), and about 6 days until the NVC receives my approval from USCIS. I have most of the documents that I require so it should be easy sailing from here, but that is ONLY because so many of you have taken the time to document your process so that it becomes easier for those who follow you. So, I write because I want to say THANK YOUTHANK YOU, to all of you - with a special thanks going to Loto. Loto, you are a superman. You have no idea how many more people there are like me who are 'learning' and helped by your wisdom, patience and giving.

Again, 'thank you' to all of you and I wish you (all) the best - and quickly.

P.S. For what it's worth: I have been a permanent resident for 10+ years and we have been married for 5+ years. That's about all I want to share.

Seeking Affirmations and Feedback and Experience

Today was a bad day for me as far as the immigration process goes. We are August files that were transferred to TSC and then transferred to a USCIS office. I called today and the “officer” told me that we were never transferred to an office but were still at TSC (no problem with that).

Here is the bad part…I asked him if he would give me any idea of where our case was in the process and/or how long he though it might take. His response “you should expect these things to take up to one year”. WHAT???? I’ve never heard any such thing (in present times anyway). I asked about the 5 month rule. He said, “men from that part of the world (my husband is from Egypt) are scrutinized more closely and it takes longer to process these cases”.

I was in a state of shock. My stomach is in knots and I don’t know what to do or what to think. I am the type of person who tries to stay positive and assume “the best”. In this case, my mind goes to the worst (waiting another 8 months for NOA2). Is he looking at our case, seeing problems and communicating that through his message or is he just giving me some pat answer to lower my expectations of getting approved anytime soon?

Since I have NEVER seen any postings on this board (in recent months) where a USCIS officer made that kind of statement, I am pacing the floor trying to decide where to go from here.

Your Affirmations, Feedback and/or personal experiences will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much for being here.

I haven't heard of that since I've been a member on this site. I had read about ONE case where a middle eastern man had problems at the interview (his wife was also 20 years his senior, and he had a large lack of common knowledge about his "wife"). I don't work for the uscis but DON'T get discouraged. There are plenty of cases with middle eastern, african, asian HECK ALL PARTS OF THE WORLD spouses that get approved within or just close to the 5 month mark. Are you confident with the evidence you sent? Do you have a 100% real marriage? If yes. Don't worry until it's time to worry. If you don't think you sent enough info, start collecting some now, like photos, phone logs, plane tickets, and other info. That man's comment was racist and unnecessary. He deserves a hammer to the head. :bonk:
