That's some good shooting, Charles.

Although, when given the choice to see the front sight or the target, the front sight should always win. No matter what, the front sight should be clear and in focus.

If you focus on the wall across the room and hold your thumb up to it you can move your thumb all around the wall and the wall will still be in focus. Who knows where your thumb really is. You can tell if it's high or low, kind of to the right, kind of to the left, etc. But, you can't tell exactly where it is on the wall because you're focused on the wall. If you focus on your thumb, you can move it to the exact spot on the wall you want it.

Same with your sight. And where your sight is pointed... the bullet will go!

I have no idea why the recoil was so significant. Collapsed stock is a bit more recoil but it shouldn't have caused any pain. I'm going for the placebo effect! After that wimpy little .22 the big ol' .223 whooped your butt!

You should try shooting an apple off of a VJ'ers head 300 yards. I can give you a few suggestions.

When shooting an AR, the zero at 300 is almost exactly the same as the zero at 25 yards. It's actually quite an easy shot. ARs are freaking amazing when it comes to accuracy. A shooter worth their salt can utilize knowledge of trajectory/drop/wind dope/etc., and make a 300 yard hit with very little effort.

An apple may require a little dope, but not much. At 300 yards, it's about a MOA shot. Not too hard with the ol' AR.

Yep, its that time of the year again. I shoot an AR-15 in 6.8SPC for my hunting rifle. Scary accurate when i do my part. Feral hogs and deer are not fond of it.

PS - any shooting is good shooting.
