When filing the I-129F do you have to send the original or can you send a copy? The reason I ask is that my fiancee' signed in blue ink by mistake and I want to be sure we do things correctly. I did not see an answer anywhere else so please excuse me if I am asking something that has been answered already.

You definitely cannot send a copy because they want an original I-129F petition. It is silly the way they insist on black pen because when you get to the Embassy interview stage, you fill out all the forms and should sign in blue so they can see the original signature. That is what matters, They get the original form with signature, not a copy.

Good luck.

You cant send a copy and the blue or black ink is not really a problem as long as they can distinguish the form is not a copy. We signed everything in blue ink because we didnt want them to think we sent copies of the forms.

I am currently in the process of filling in the 129F paperwork. What distinguishes the original from the copy? I typed all my responses. So the only thing hand written is the signature. So the signature is all that would really differentiate them.

Yes, if you're typing the form, I'd sign in blue ink so they know it's not a copy.
