Include the former Yugoslavia and the numbers are not quite as disparate as they might otherwise have been.

Though that was a war and not about religion, Bosnian and Croats just happen to be Muslim, we dealt with the perpetrators.

You will not hear anyone cheering, let alone denying those people being butchered. In fact, that is the best example of my previous point. A number of posters on here alone fought in that war and killed those fellow Christian Europeans, yes killed, carrying out these atrocities. We certainly didn't sit here and deny it or waste time swearing not all Christians are bad.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Well, all I can say that your experiences are not the same as mine.

I don't believe for a second that the people you know who have done nothing with

their lives would have made something of themselves if drugs did not exist.

I know many, many people who use drugs recreationally and in social situations

who have great jobs and careers, pay taxes, love and support their families,

and work hard to make a better life for themselves and their families.

You don't have to always "function 100%" - sometimes you just want to go to a

party and relax after a hard day's work.

Typically called High-Funtioning Users...addicts....junkies etc.

Not trying to state they are bad people or can not provide for their families but clearing up their preception that all drug users are low income on the outs hoods with no life or overly ecotistical spotlight entertainers of some form.

Well, from what I've taken from the past couple of days, Miss USA must either be a "bigot" or an "Uncle Tom" for daring to say anything against the Mosque....

Not all drug users are "addicts" or "junkies" - no more so than having

a glass of wine with dinner makes one an alcoholic.

Ok High-functioning User

Anyone who indulges in criminal behaivior knowly especially drugs doesn't think straight.

Even more so if risking family.

I am not passing judgement ..it is what it is.

Park 51 and the people who are behind it should not be punished for the actions of the 9/11 hijackers.

It isn't even a matter of punishment. It is a matter of sensitivity. Do some basic research and see how many mosques are in the 20 sq mile area around the twin towers footprints.

We need to be sensitive, not PC about this matter. No one will miss any "mosque time" by not having it built near ground zero.

ps, A little bird told me that Islam loves to build mosques on land that they consider "conquered."

Nothing wrong with that. Just don't need a conquering reminder near ground zero.

Sensitivity tells you what is fair in this case. If you can't see it, then you don't have it, either.

Dude you are in Ohio, so naturally the threat of terrorism there is slim. That said, with the murder rate of cities in that state, terrorism is probably the last thing you guys would be worried about.

In Columbus, the capitol of Ohio, there has been 60+ homicides this year (60 from January to July 2010); the first was approx. 1:06 on January 1, 2010. That is just one city in Ohio.

In news no mention of any the murderers being muslims and definitely THAT would have been reported for weeks after the fact.

high percentage of christians in Ohio so i would hazard a guess the majority of the murderers were christian.

how about jewish murderers? http://www.bing.com/search?q=israel+AND+stabbed+AND+5+killed+AND+toldeo%2C+oh&FORM=HPNTDF&src=IE-SearchBox

i saw ONE newscast about this, then it disappeared from the TV. but when it's a muslim the same story is on the news for weeks.

he terrorized several states, not just Ohio, 5 killed and 18 or 19 stabbed (news stories vary); when they say "stabbed" they mean "attempted gutting". i saw the 'from lower belly up through the chest" slices on two of the ones who lived, they looked like they had been through a live autopsy! Why do they (the media) minimize the butchery he did? becasue he is jewish? because his victims were all dark skinned?

point being = no state is perfectly safe, no city is perfectly safe. though you're right in that there doesnt seem to be muslim terrorists in Ohio - they appear to be christian and jewish.

What I dont "get": you dont consider it "terrorism" unless it's a muslim. so a guy on a rampage slicing people up in various states isnt a terrorist in your eyes because he is not muslim. typical media brainwashing: "terrorist = muslim".

in MY eyes a killer is a killer, no matter his race, religion, culture.

I believe most Muslims in western countries are moderates, otherwise why would they even come here.

Let me ask you this, if you are Muslim then lying is a sin I assume. Can you honestly say that there are little to no Muslims out there, outside the US, who want the west destroyed. Especially Muslims in the fringes of Pakistan.

Second question, is it really worth the animosity and trouble to build it there rather than a few blocks away?

I remember this woman, and the pole-dancing stuff.

I've no stomach for anything she might say, she chooses to bare her limbs. I wonder who her imam is, and what guidance he gives her for the Miss Universe competition?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Everyone is reading "Jihad Watch", eh?

You all have learned the talking points well, but the argument about sensitivity is a big, fvcking red herring. This is what is considered sensitive enough to be near the sacred hole.

I know for a fact two that are addicts (hooked the FIRST time they tried a specific drug) who were doing well for themselves; both had good jobs, good families, good future ahead. All it took was that first time.

I wonder how many would see your side of "logic" if they knew how many "high functioning addicts" are out there... you know the ones, they started with cigarettes as a kid, then tried alcohol, throw in some nasal spray ("oh i'm not addicted, i use it every day and am not addicted"), some hashish once in awhile, pot smoking every weekend that turns to every day "it helps relax me" they say... try some coke "just to give some energy, feeling awfully tired" (oh, couldnt be all that pot smoking making them tired!), but now the pot doesnt give that euphoric feeling anymore so let's try some heroin...

and if you think ANYONE knows, they dont, not even their own spouse, but they confide to a friend becasue their life is a mess and they're unhappy.

how does it make you feel to know that most people would consider this person a contributing member of society even while they are driving on our roads high on H? Doesnt make me feel good. would you believe this person even looks down on all the people we knew whose lives are in the crapper becasue of drugs but this person sees no similarities, even though they've been through 4 marriages, numerous SOs, and are so miserable they're slowly killing themself. Because they have a job and pay their bills they think the drugs are not a problem.

and so they're on the road with you and I, as well as our parents, our children, our friends ... and i pray they dont kill someone while in that "euphoric" state.

how about the ones who take "prescription" drugs, then drive thinking it's ok because what they're taking is "prescription". go to you local police dept and ask them what percentage of traffic accidents involve prescription meds... it's a whole lot more than alcohol!!

DRUGS AFFECT THE BRAIN, THE BODY, and when a person is under the influence and not functioning at 100% they are a danger to those around them. The driver who isnt all there and causes accidents, the mom who isnt all there and her kid gets hurt or wanders off because she is in the "euphoric" stage, the dr who botches a surgery becasue he's been an addict since medical school, the teacher who because of lowered inhibitions thinks it's ok to have sex with a student... and i'm sure others could add to the list.

"street drugs" and "prescription drugs" are the same pills obtained in different ways... and have same affect on brain and body.

just for the record, the person i described above is a hard worker and EXACTLY as you describe the people you know. that same person, before getting a great paying job they've had now for about 13yrs (where they DAILY endanger other people's lives), has always worked like a dog, even working 2 full time and a part-time job at one time. i've personally seen that person (who is an alcoholic) drink a 6 pack on the way to friend's home and then tell them when arriving they've been sober X amount of months and everyone praise them.

a high-functioning addict can do that, even for years, before everything crashes.
