Are all crips and bloods gang members? Yes. Are all crips and bloods murderers? No. So wheres the outrage? If muslims dont see how their religion is being hijacked by a few bad apples and dont speak-out in a major way to denounce the few. A simple yearly get together to denounce radical Islam would defiantly help I think.

Help whom?

Also, who speaks for all Christians? Is there an authority that could get together that could "make announcements" for everyone else around the world?

Basically what you guys are doing is saying that 1.8 Billion people should go on record and say they don't support the actions of 19. How is that possible?

I know you haven't come right out and said it yet, but does this prove you're willing to take a handful of stories about individuals and broadly paint a whole group of folks?

You've already done it with Muslims and blacks, I guess Buckeyes should be no different.

No one is broadly painting anybody, that's your take. This does not change the reality of who is committing various crimes.

When it comes to terrorist crimes, the majority of the perpetrators are doing so in the name of Islam.

When it comes to homicides in the US, the majority of the perpetrators are from one specific demographic.

Who cares if not all do it, it still does not change the fact that one particular group or ideology is committing - by far - the majority of such crimes.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Right. What you said was we should hold a whole group accountable for the actions of a few.

Spot-on!

This is typical of your Aussie "let's punish everyone because a few folks did it" mindset. It's not going to fly here in America, period. We will not hold a collective group accountable for the actions of a few individuals.

It's like saying all Australian's are arrogant pricks just because he is.

All I was saying is that the Muslim leadership in America should have a sit down to come up with a way to quell negative perceptions. You Guys? You lumping me in with everyone you see fit? Strangely familiar now isnt it?

You just put me in the category of folks who euthanize bears simply because of where I live.

This does not change the reality of who is committing various crimes.

Doesn't. But, to say 1.8 Billion people are "in the same group" as 19 others is a pretty broad stroke of the brush.

When it comes to terrorist crimes, the majority of the perpetrators are doing so in the name of Islam.

Majority? What majority are you speaking of?

Next, can you generalize all 1.8 Billion people who claim to me "Muslim" as being in the same Islam as those who are allegedly perpetrating terrorism in the name Islam?

When it comes to homicides in the US, the majority of the perpetrators are from one specific demographic.

So "all" those in that demographic are responsible for the homicides? You've been saying you would take care of it if it was "your" group. Well, you live in DC... why aren't these homicides "yours?" Wrong color?

Who cares if not all do it, it still does not change the fact that one particular group or ideology is committing - by far - the majority of such crimes.

So you're saying it's acceptable to discriminate against one group simply because some of those folks do bad things?

Not everyone, just Heracles and the others who are claiming 1.8 Billion people somehow have "group representation."

Generalize much?

actually, no. i am referring to people i know, people i grew up with, people who have done NOTHING with their lives. unless you count "give me another toke {cough cough cough}" as "doing something" with their lives. Or maybe going to prison or getting arrested is "doing something" to someone who is in the "euphoric" haze... selling dope; manslaughter and road rage (pulling the guy out of his vehicle and killing him); DUIs; abuse of spouses and children; mental hospitals.

Many unhappy, miserable lives; people/families ruined because of "harmless" drugs.

can not function at 100% when the brain is under a "euphoric effect", though some believe they do.

if you gave your info (receipt #s, full name, etc) to anyone on VJ under the guise that they would "help" you through the immigration journey with his inside contacts (like his sister at USCIS) ... please contact OLUInquiries@dhs.gov, and go to http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact to report anything suspicious. Contact your congressman and senator's offices as well.

Who's to say which life is more valuable?

You have a lot of folks here who think the simple act of reproduction is akin to "doing something with their lives" and that's not necessarily true. Working at a job you hate to buy sh!t you don't need also doesn't mean you've "made it" any more than sitting on the couch blazing up and playing Madden does. In fact, you could probably argue the opposite of that to be true since most who work dream of not working!

Well, all I can say that your experiences are not the same as mine.

I don't believe for a second that the people you know who have done nothing with

their lives would have made something of themselves if drugs did not exist.

I know many, many people who use drugs recreationally and in social situations

who have great jobs and careers, pay taxes, love and support their families,

and work hard to make a better life for themselves and their families.

You don't have to always "function 100%" - sometimes you just want to go to a

party and relax after a hard day's work.

Where did I specifically claim that? Specifically claim that all Muslims are terrorists or responsible. Where? What I did actually state, as I regularly state with the homicide rate in the US, is that there is a problem within these groups. Therefore, rather than your or anyone wasting time trying to convince me not all are bad, which I already know, spend it trying to figure out why these crimes are being committed.

As to the previous posts, once again you miss the point entirely. Point about bear was in relation to you insinuation that the rest of the first world is stupid. Therefore, I am simply asking if Ohio is where the smart people are, since the rest of us are stupid.

Once again, simply stating who is committing the majority of X crimes or atrocities is not discriminating, it's fact. Then again previous discussion with you illustrate that you seem to have an issue both accepting and interpreting data.

Over the last decade or two, how many Christians, Buddhist, Hindus and even atheist combined have butchered people in the name of their beliefs. Now have many Muslims have done the same? The difference is huge.

Include the former Yugoslavia and the numbers are not quite as disparate as they might otherwise have been.

A number of posts making personal attacks and a number of posts deliberately 'baiting' for a heated response along with posts quoting same have been removed. Disagreeing with each other's positions is not necessarily a problem'; being disagreeable about it is. As well, generalizations are not a useful way to present a point of view and can often come across as 'baiting' for a specific response as well. This thread has wandered rather far off topic from its original article into the umpteenth thread of the same people arguing the same issue over and over again.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
