Hey guys,

I haven't actually started my K1 visa process yet, I'm just doing my research first.

I believe everyone needs to show a police certificate/s for packet 3 (I'm from Australia)

But im a little confused on to how many I actually need! I was in sydney when I was 16 and then moved to melbourne (about a year later)

Anyone else from Australia have any information!

K-1 Visa

Engaged 25/01/2011

I-129F sent 25/02/2011

NOA1 received 02/03/2011

NOA2 received 31/05/2011

Medical completed 14/06/2011

NVC received petition 21/06/2011

Petition arrived at SYD consulate 28/06/2011

From what I understand about police certificates, you will probably need one from the year you lived in Sydney after your 16th birthday and then one from the time you lived in Melbourne.

June 17, 2010: Arrived for second in-person meeting and start of travel together to other areas of China!

September 1, 2010: Switched course from K1 to CR-1
December 8, 2010: Wedding date set; it will be on February 18, 2011!
February 9, 2011: Depart for China
February 11, 2011: Registered for marriage in Wuhan, officially married!!!
February 18, 2011: Wedding ceremony in Shiyan!!!
April 22, 2011: Mailed I-130 to Chicago
April 28, 2011: Received NOA1 via text/email, file routed to CSC (priority date April 25th)
April 29, 2011: Updated
May 3, 2011: Received NOA1 hardcopy in mail
July 26, 2011: Received NOA2 via text/email!!!
July 30, 2011: Received NOA2 hardcopy in mail

January 28, 2014: Production of new Green Card ordered

February 3, 2014: New Green Card received; done with USCIS until fall of 2023*

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

From what I understand about police certificates, you will probably need one from the year you lived in Sydney after your 16th birthday and then one from the time you lived in Melbourne.

Sydney and Melbourne are both in Australia ?.... if you have always lived in Australia you will need one from Australia.

I believe the above poster had it correct - you need a police certificate for each country you have lived in since the age of 16

Hey Chloe - there is only one that covers Australia no matter which state you have lived in. However you need the name AND fingerprint Australian one which can be arranged by contacting your local police station and finding out whether you can do it as a walk in or whether you need to make an appointment. The cost is around A$150.
