Based on the video, the robber on the floor of the store was incapacitated and presented no threat as the pharmacist walked by him, grabbed another gun, walked back to him, and pumped several rounds into him.

The fact that he was facing other assailants could be a mitigating factor in his defense but it doesn't give him the right to shoot someone who no longer presented an immediate threat.

If someone walks into your home or place of business and threatens you with deadly force, you morally have no responsibility for his or her safety. If he is already dead, a couple extra bullets to the chest won't hurt anything. If he is still alive, his actions are unpredictable and considering he was prepared to kill you before, he may be willing to do so now.

I'm not sure what you're saying here as most places that openly display being armed aren't robbed.

There is, actually.

Places with armed guards are very infrequently robbed.

Most places that don't openly display aren't robbed either. so what? Your point was that armed robbers don't target stores that have owners who are armed, clearly they do or the incident in the OP wouldn't have occurred and dozens like it. You can't measure anything by what hasn't happened, that's stupid.

I don't think I did.

When you take guns away from law-abiding citizens, you change the balance of power in favor of the bad guys.

What balance of power? Do you think all citizens should be armed and trained 'just in case'?

No, but some will be armed and trained 'just in case'. If you make guns illegal, no-one will be armed and trained (except the bad guys, of course.)

Really, the bad guys are training and practicing firearms and various tactics and techniques like the MILITARY and POLICE?

Yes, the some that should be armed and trained are the police - and if you live in the boonies fair enough, I have no problem with these people owning guns on their own property - but in urban areas and cities having random civilians armed and trained is pointless.

If not outright dangerous. Just think of how many times some drunk idiot is fiddling with a gun and it goes off accidentally. Those people should be locked up. Oh wait, they are.

i know one "stop-n-rob" store that would definitely disagree wiht you

we used to laugh about a corner convenience store at one place i lived that WEEKLY got robbed... you'd have thought they would drop their little "no guns" policy but didnt. didnt take long to go out of business. idiots.

as for this incident, where do you get your info that the pharmacy advertised it was armed? perhaps it had one of the 'no guns' signs? i missed that part if somewhere in the news story it stated the store advertised they were armed.... and i have actually read the whole thread when posting.

i COMPLETELY understand the mindset now.... you are one of those people who MISTAKENLY think the cops are there to PROTECT you

what you dont understand is that they are there to take a picture of your dead body after you've failed to protect yourself and your family. welcome to the real world hun.

if you gave your info (receipt #s, full name, etc) to anyone on VJ under the guise that they would "help" you through the immigration journey with his inside contacts (like his sister at USCIS) ... please contact OLUInquiries@dhs.gov, and go to http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact to report anything suspicious. Contact your congressman and senator's offices as well.

The role of the police is to maintain law and order not protect me personally. If I felt my life was in danger I would hire a body guard.

We can't all afford bodyguards...
