It's about time my husband goes for his medical, but he cannot find his immunization records. I've even called his mom asking her to look for them, but to no avail. I'm going to send him to a clinic to get them (perhaps again, in some cases), as I think it'll be much cheaper than getting them during the medical examination. The list of needed immunizations is followed by a statement, "Depending on your age, you may not need all of these vaccinations." He's 26...does anyone have any ideas which ones he needs/doesn't need?

The list is:

Mumps, measles, rubella, polio, tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, influenza type B, hepatitis B, varicella (chicken pox), pneumococcal, and influenza.

Thanks in advance for your advice! :)

My Fiance was in the same situation. The clinic or schools had no records of the immunizations. He started getting them at the clinic prior to his medical appointment. He had to get 2 shots when he went to his medical (although he did not complete all of the shots prior to his appointment). He was not required to get all of the shots once he had his medical, but did get the majority of them. When I speak to him tomorrow I will advise you of the exact shots he got at the clinic and the two he was required to get at the medical. He ended up paying 15,500.00 Jamaican dollars for the entire exam (including the fees for the 2 immunizations).

I am 27 and i couldn't find my immunization card either, what i did was go to my doctor yesterday and he gave me the shots he thinks i will need, i got 3 of them and they cost me $3,300 dollars, and today i went to Mo-bay hope and did my medical i only paid the examiner fee, also its more expensive there cause a guy was there who got the same shots i got at my doctor and he had to pay $26,000 for his complete medical...

Thanks Fishlady! Yes,please let me know! I figured it'd be cheaper to go to a clinic.

I just wanted to make sure it isn't bad to get some of the vaccinations more than once! I guess he'll just be SUPER vaccinated against those things!!

Effective December 14, 2009, the HPV and zoster vaccines are no longer required for immigrant visa medical examinations.

The following vaccinations are required for immigration purposes:

Hepatitis A

Hepatitis B

Influenza

Influenza type b (Hib)

Measles

Meningococcal

Mumps

Penumococcal

Pertussis

Polio

Rotavirus

Rubella

Tetanus and diphtheria toxoids

Varicella

That's a lot of vaccines

What do we do for some vaccines like Hepatitis A/B that need like 6 months to administer all doses? Can't schedule the medical exam until after 6 months??

My fiance had the same problem but what we did was go to the local clinic and ask them if they had his records on file which they did so they just record it on a new immunization card for him. He also went to a private doctor to get the shots he needed I believe the shots at Hope Medical is 5000 or more per shot. For the Hep shot he got them a month apart and he did not come up right away so he was able to complete all of his Hepatatis shots.

The solution is to go to your regular doctor, have him draw blood and perform an ANTIBODY TITRE TEST. This way the lab can look for the antibodies listet for the vaccines.

I did the exact same thing because I'm immune to mumps, measles and rubella and a couple other things I got vaccinated for. The doctor at the medical was able to accept this document even if it came from a regular doc.

Try asking if that is a possibility too.

Alles wird gut und wenn es noch nicht gut ist, ist es noch nicht vorbei.

This concerns me alot. Will the Embassy accept documentation from any doctor stating that the immunizations were received?

Yes, as long as you have some formal documentation (like a certificate from doctor or health clinic). The point is that you should have received these vaccines, doesn't matter from whom. Don't have to wait to get them at the medical exam for immigrant visa. In fact it might be best to start early, because like I said some vaccines take months to complete.

Thanks Loto...you're good! Looks like it might be smarter to just sent him to the medical exam, as the panel physician can decide whether or not he needs it.

I think having the immunization records definitely helps to reduce the cost. My fiance' had the exam.. two shots and he paid a little over 10,000 JMD.
