I'm a student, and don't make much money so I only filed an I-864 for my parents as co-sponsors before, thus getting an RFE for my I-864.

I attached:

- The original RFE letter

- I-864

- 1099 and W2s for the past 3 years.

- Screenshot of my current work time for 2010 thus far.

Enough?

I got the same RFE.

Just call the IRS and ask for your Tax Transcripts for the past 3 years. The joint sponsor must do the same.

My husband and my mother in law (joint sponsor) called the IRS and in 2 days we got the Tax Transcripts.

Like the schedule Cs and all that?

Yes, EVERYTHING. It even mentions the schedules in the instructions. IRS tax transcripts (I prefer the "tax account transcripts") are your best bet as you can be sure that everything is there.

Ok, so this will be a giant packet with like 60 pages plus total for three years of my tax information?

Sounds like a lot of trouble even though my income doesn't matter because it's covered by my co-sponsors.

60 pages does seem excessive. I imagine 3 years of transcripts would be much shorter. USCIS wants what they want. What you want or seems convenient doesn't make a difference. We all had to go through this exact same thing.

I've heard that "tax account transcripts" are not acceptable because they only give basic information about the taxpayer's account, whereas a "tax return transcript" is a line-by-line listing of the figures that were submitted on the tax return.

Perfectly acceptable and in fact I was told preferable because USCIS doesn't care about the "multiple lines". They only care about your income. I used them and several other people I know also used them with no issues.

**Edit - for the N-400 though, they specifically request the "Tax return transcripts". They also as for a tax return transcript for the I-864 if you filed your return late. Other than those instances (I didn't check ROC) it doesn't specify and like I said, i had no issues and neither has anyone else I know.
