I was Just trying to showcase how when an argument breaks out between muslim and non muslim, every muslim will say islam is very peaceful and humanitarian.

All the religion teaches is to respect others and help them in hard time and on and on……….

When it comes to putting it to practice they run away from humanitarian ideas, yet they claim the religion is of peace and love.

what does its sovereign nation status have to do with its exclusion of synagogues and masjids?

sunni muslims for the most part do not approve of any depictions of any prophets. but they do share a love and veneration for all of God's holy prophets, and prophet isa is beloved by muslims in saudi arabia.

Definately I dont expect you to agree, coz you would never agree to why the Imam and the other sponsor of Mosque choose to spend $100 million in building a mosque against building hopsital, schools, colleges in countries like Afghanistan.

Pls I am not talking about building madrasa, I am talking about a normal school or college where everybody a boy or girl can attend without discrimination.

Here is the problem you want a masjid built everywhere, but if someone would say lets get a temple or church built in mecca each and everyone of you will be against it.

Vatican City is a sovereign nation. It is not a part of Rome. Vatican City is dedicated to the protection and spread of the Catholic faith. There are no masjids, temples, synogogues, sweat lodges, etc. In the Vatican. They are all about what's in the best interest of Catholism. More power to them. When this is pointed out as a juxtaposition to the silly argument that Park51 in NYC has any connection to what the sovereign nation of Saudi Arabia decides is best for them, it is expected that those who make that silly argument will deny that both Vatican City and KSA have the right to determine what they will allow within their borders.

If you are truly concerned that there are no churches in the KSA, contact the Pope and urge him to acknowledge Muhammad (pbuh) as a prophet of God. During talks between the Vatican and Prince Abdullah, that was the requirement he had for the Pope to get a Catholic church in the KSA. Muslims accept and venerate Jesus. A theocracy, which both the KSA and the Vatican are, has a responsibility to make surthatat those among them show respect for their faith. And, the Vatican does not have to allow masjids either.

Sounds like a deal to me.

Jim – I think you have covered the topic perfectly as you do with your immigration advice.

Yet I can guarantee you that nothing you said will ever matter, as ppl who think islam is the most peaceful religion will continue to do so, even when they know from inside that its wrong.

I wouldn't presume to try to change someone's mind about the religion they choose to believe in. That's their business. It doesn't become my business unless they try to shove their beliefs down my throat. As long as we can agree to leave each other alone then we'll get along just dandy.

My diatribe, for what it's worth, was meant to answer Sofiyya's simple question:

I do believe that there is extremism in the Islam, the faith. The Quran is chock full of verses like the few examples I gave. I've never heard an Islamic scholar explain these verses in a way that would satisfy a secular western mind. Fortunately, the vast majority of Muslims in the world don't take these verses literally. They couldn't if they wanted to because the only 'real' Quran is written in Arabic, and the overwhelming majority of Muslims don't speak Arabic. They simply learn to recite the verses by sound. As a result, the brand of Islam practiced by most Muslims is relatively benign, and consists mostly of ritual prayer and fasting during Ramadan. They don't mean any harm to me or anyone else.

The ones who are dangerous are the 'scholars' who understand completely what the Quran describes, and take it as a personal command to carry out Allah's work at the point of a sword. If they have enough charisma, like Bin Laden, they can get a lot of people to buy into their jihadist viewpoint, and that's when things get really dangerous. It's never a good sign when charismatic intelligent people think they are getting a personal "call to arms" from the Quran, the Bible, the neighbor's dog, or the Beatle's White Album.
