I may want to divorce my Husband and go back to the PI

After I met my fiancée, and found out he was from the US, I ask some family and friends what to expect. Some key items I was told

1. The roads are pave with gold

2. Most trees grow dollars bills

3. My first job will pay me 100K per year, and only 20 hours per week of work

4. The US government has a law that my Asawa must support my whole family in any amount I choose

5. If I do not like my Asawa I may turn him in for a new one, that looks like Leonardo DiCaprio

So I was excited

But then I went to the CFO they told me:

1. Upon arrival he will turn me into prostitute

2. Expect beatings from him daily

3. He has 3 wives’s you’re the fourth

4. If you can escape him, here is the Philippines Embassy contact number

So I ask my future husband about all this, and he countered:

1. I own three cars, a Porsche, a Mercedes & Lexus

2. I have two Yachts

3. I have two maids

4. I am a large land owner

5. I’m in the restaurant business

When I got there:

1. We took a bus home, turns out his three cars came from toys R US

2. He plays with his two Yachts in the bath tub

3. The maid names are, dishwasher, and washing machine

4. We live in a small apartment, and he promises to take me to Florida to see the swamp land he bought on the internet. As soon as he can find the person that sold it to him.

5. I got a job at McDonalds, as he lost his job at Burger King

So I am very confused, does anyone have any good advice for me

advice? Sure ! Study the divorce regulations for your local county courthouse, and file for divorce, soonish !

Once you've filed, turn in your greencard at the security checkpoint at the airport, on yer way back to the PI.

Good Luck !

If you just married the man because of the things he claimed to own and the money he supposedly made, I say you learned a valuable lesson. In the usa people work just like they do in the philippines, jobs are hard to find and not everyone is rich. Of course you wouldnt know that its hard here from watching tv in the philippines, they do make it seem so glamorous right?

But, what job you have in the usa is up to you, nothing stopping you from going to college and getting a good degree and hoping for a better job. My advice is if you divorce and go home, do a good job of telling everyone that the usa is not a fantasy land

But he did have boats, in the bath tub! hahahaha

I hope you posted this a joke. If not you are just perpetuating a stereo-type. And as the other poster said, if you married for streets of gold and dollar bill trees, not love, well then, I guess you got everything you deserved. If it was posted as a joke...AWESOME FUNNY!

Yep (with the exception of her Mom & brother)...

Mom just recently got a lot of work done on the house and everyone assumes we paid for it. The truth of the matter is that brother-in-law paid for the whole thing. When people ask about it Mom tells them that it was a joint expense shared by the family! I feel for the BIL as he should get full credit for his good deed...

Took two years of physically living in the PI to teach My fiancées family different. First time I met my future father in law...He asked me for 50,000 (dollars not Peso's) When my Fiancée had our first baby...that also helped the situation.

Very common misconception among a lot of Filipinos. They don't know that people here have to work hard to earn money, they just think that once you go abroad (work or live, especially here in the US), they think that you're just picking dollars from trees.

Sad truth is, the family back home still believes this, no matter how much my wive tells them it is not true. :(

There is a very powerful psychological force working against us.

People use whatever rationalization they can to excuse their bad behavior. There is an endless history of armed robbers saying they are stealing from banks or railroads, not from "the people" or serial killers saying their victims are "just prostitutes" and powerful countries commiting war crimes in the name of "saving" or "liberating" their victims, etc.

Countless third-worlders use reprehensible tactics for money and hide behind rationalizations like "you are rich" and pretend that their three thousand days in a row of not working have resulted in an unexpected "emergency" every month when the electric bill, the rent, or whatever else is due.

It isn't that they believe it so much as there is a compelling need to paint themselves as good people in contrast to the bad people who won't fork over money every time they ask for it.

The tactic of "playing dumb" is classic manipulative behavior. (Duh - do people really have to work for money in the USA? I'm shocked, shocked I tell you!)

With such a person you can explain yourself to death to no avial because "understaning" it forces the admission that they are the bad people, not you.

What a coincidence!

Passive aggressive...much?

Sometimes find it difficult to cope with someone having a different opinion than yours?

Feel angry when your opinion is rejected?

Here is a link that might help provide some insight........http://www.4degreez.com/misc/personality_disorder_test.mv
