I arrived in the US from Great Britian on a K-1 Fiance visa about 1month ago and have since been married. We're now looking into the adjustment of status process and applying for work authorization.

I've filled in forms I-765 and I-485 and my partner filled out the affidavit of support. I thought that was all we needed but double checked on USCIS.GOV only to find another list of forms we need. Included in this was the I-693, Medical Examination of Aliens Seeking Adjustment of Status. It says that this should be filled in by your physician and sealed in an envelope. I had a medical exam back in London but the only form given to me was my Vaccination History. Do I really need to get ANOTHER medical?? I thought the whole point of getting one over there was so I didn't need one over here.

My nerves are completely gone. Just want this whole process to be over all ready so I can get on with my new life!

Theoretically no you don't need another one - as yours was done less than 12 months ago. What you do need is the I-693A vaccination supplement which will necessitate attendance at a Civil Surgeon's office where he will transcribe your vaccination records onto a USCIS form (I-693A).

That will be sufficient to send along with your AOS package and all the other evidences which are required.

There have been instances however, where individuals have gotten RFE's in spite of having had medicals within the last 12 months and had to have them done again in order to have AOS approved. This is rare though and is up to each service center to decide, separate from the USCIS guildelines. I would not get another medical done as strictly speaking this is not necessary and if you are one of those unlucky few who gets requested to go have another one, then do it - it will only put you back by maybe 4-6 weeks in the process, but will probably never happen.

Hope all goes well..

Thanks for the advice. The doctor I need to see, I assume this can only be one of the doctors listed on the USCIS website and not just my regular physician?

Another question...sorry, but I am THAT stupid! It says I also need to fill in a G-325A Biographic Information form. Looking at it I'm sure I already filled this in as part of my Visa application back in the UK, do I need to fill in in again now that I'm living in the US?

and yes again...it can only be a Civil Surgeon on the USCIS list!

You need to have a copy of your DS-3025 from your medical in the UK to take to the Civil Surgeon for him to transcribe onto the I-693A form.

It may or may not cost you money to have that done. If there are multiple CS's in your area, call around and ask.
