if you have only lived in Canada since you were 16, you need to ask for the "Canada wide Name Check", this will cover all the provinces you have lived in.....

I am not sure about the different names though....

does it have to be from the RCMP? i've got a CPIC clearance check from my local that is canada wide.

Packet 3 specifically asks for an RCMP Police Certificate. However, others have gotten though with a local certificate that states that it was based on a CPIC Canada Wide Search. However, there are no guarantees that the CO will accept it.

this is nice. 6 month waiting list to just get my bloody prints done. no queue jumping allowed :crying: then the 150 days wait from the rcmp. so i guess i don't care how long the csc is taking now

Kim...

Do you have a police record... if not, you DO NOT have to have the fingerprint check done. Only a Name based chack from the RCMP. It does not take 150 days... it takes like 20 minutes...

thanks zyg. i think i've found where to get that done. lady that answered the phone at the RCMP office this afternoon was MUCH more helpful and knowledgeable than the gent that answered this morning.

i just found the second copy of the police certificate that I got....

in the left hand corner it says Royal Canadian Mounted Police and in the right hand corner it says "Canadian Police Certificate for Visa Applicants/Foreign travelers/foreign work permits".....

and in the middle in little letters it says... "This certifies that a search based on the above name and date of birth, failed to disclose any such person with a record of criminal convictions in the national repository for criminal records in Canada. "Search not confirmed by fingerprints" I also just noticed that I had the search done in my maiden name....

I remember asking for the "Canada wide Name Check" and that is what I got... it does have to Say RCMP on it somewhere.... so i am assuming you have to go to a RCMP office, I am from Chilliwack, BC and we happened to have one in town, so that is where I went....

Hi

My husband lives in Canada he is a PR there..So he needs to go back to the age of 16yrs old?

I thought I read somewhere not to include any US address...Am I correct on this?

He lived in the US from 1999 til 2003 He was born and raised in India, And he doesn't think it will

be very easy getting this from India hence he hasn't been there since 1999...Is it possible INS would still

have this on record hence he came to the US as a student and had to go through police checks then?

Any thoughts on this?

Michelle

Your local police can do the check too. Both the Police and the RCMP check the same data base. In Sask the RCMP refuse to do checks in Moose Jaw because they claimed that I lived in the jurisdiction of the City Police. I guess it just depends on where you live. Our check done by the City Police was accepted. Case is completed at NVC.
