Changed Address Same Day of ROC Approval

We just moved on August 2nd. Had no idea our ROC would be approved so soon. We filed May 1st and were approved Friday, May 13th. After receiving the text and checking online to read that the card was ordered, we filled out the AR-11 online (I know we should have filled it out sooner and that we are supposed to do it 10 days after moving but we hadn't done it yet) and continued to fill out the current application change of address (which they don't have a CR189 form to check or an I-751 form so we had to check 'other').

On Saturday we got another text saying our case was updated but there wasn't any new info when I checked. I had my fingers crossed that meant that the change of address had been updated. I called on Monday and the 800# of course said that it was too late, the approval letter and card would be sent to the wrong address and returned and we would have to wait 30 days in order to notify them that we hadn't received the card and then they would order a new one to be sent to the updated address.

I couldn't believe it when we received the approval letter in the mail yesterday, August 18th, to the updated address. This application was by far the smoothest and quickest approval we have had on this journey. Still can't believe that USCIS's system worked so well and efficiently. I may change my mind about them yet. Maybe.

Also, we were also one of those filers who sent literally a 3 1/2 lb. application/documents for ROC (very well organized if I say so myself). I don't regret at all sending what I did and the work I put into it. I know that there are many who preach to only send the bare minimum otherwise it appears that you have something to hide or will make more work for the IO, etc. All I can say is it worked out well for us and we were approved in a relatively short amount of time considering how the approvals have been so slow in coming.

Congratulations to all who have been approved and to those who are still waiting I wish you a speedy approval! Those who are about to file, follow the good advice here, read read read, and always make sure you do it in whatever way makes you feel most comfortable.

Since May 13 I think was on a Thursday. I think its safe to say it was Friday August 13
