Hey Guys,

Do you know if NVC will want a proof letter stating that my step-daughter's father will let her live in the United States? My wife was not married to the father and he verbally agreed with her moving to the United States. My wife has never went in front of a judge to gain custody of the child, But she has always raised her on her own.

Thanks,

Burc.

Generally they require a letter stating that the parent has allowed the child to move and is aware the child is moving to the US. Its to prevent kidnapping and custody problems etc.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Im not sure if they would let him into the interview place, might be better to just have him write a letter as well just incase they dont let him in the interview or incase they do ask for a letter anyways. Its good that he doesnt cause problems but they will need it in written permission anyways for their records.

Do you know if the letter needs to be recent. My wife had this permission given to her in divorce documents that are a few years old. Will that work?

She can certainly submit the divorce document. In fact, she will be required to.

Regarding a letter about your step daughter. I would strongly suggest that it's an official notarized statement from the father stating that he is both aware that she is moving to the US and that he has no issue or challenge about it. Supporting words would help Not simply just a letter.
