AOS Co-Sponsor Question

Ok so I'm still putting our packet together lol

But I have a question about the co-sponsor stuff that needs to be included. She included the last 3 years tax returns, but they are like 10 pages each. They have a summary page on the front from Turbo Tax, and then the rest of the pages. Which should I include in the packet? I doubt they want/need 30 pages of tax return info lol. If they do, I will send it, but if I can send less, that'd be great!

Also, is the signed I-864 and tax returns all I need from her to send in? Or do I need anything else from her?

The best thing to do is call the IRS and ask for the Tax Transcripts.

Recently I got a RFE asking for the Tax stuff again. The first time I sent them only the Turbo Tax papers, and it didn't work. The second time I sent only the Tax Transcripts, and everything went fine.

Avoid a RFE by sending only the Tax Transcripts.

What you have to send is a copy of everything that was sent to the IRS, or would have been sent if the sponsor filed a "paper" return (most people use eFile now). Every form, schedule, attachment, W2, 1099, etc. Worksheets and summaries generated by TurboTax (or other tax prep software) are not required. Only what would be sent to the IRS.

Tax transcripts are a lot easier, and generally only a few pages.

Other than that, your co-sponsor needs to prove their status. Citizens should submit a photocopy of their passport, birth certificate, or certificate of naturalization. LPR's should submit a photocopy of both sides of their Green Card.
