Hi Giys,

My fiance is almost ready to send the Packet 3 to the embassy. Just a few questions I am stuck on:

Applicant's Statement:

The Applican't statement puts down Photo Instructions as an enclosure to the application. Does that mean we need to send out photos again with packet 3?

I-134:

Question 7: I have life insurance through my work (I don't pay anything for it out of pocket) payable to my beneficiary after my death. So do I need to put down the life insurance payout benefit here?

Question 11: I am not sure what exactly is the purpose for this. My guess is that since she is immigrating here permanently, this need not to be filled. Correct???

Affidavit of support:

Do I need to get letters from my bank showing I have enough funds in my account?

What else I need to put with

Something like photos sent might be Consulate dependent, but it seems in most cases the alien fiance(e) needs to carry the photos (2 photos are required) to the interview. One is used in making the visa.

Question 7: Do not list. They are talking about a cash value policy. You do not have it.

Question 11: You should answer this question. No answer or N/A might result in a 221(g).

Affidavit of Support. Include pay stubs to show current income and 1 to 3 years tax returns with W-2s or tax transcripts.

Naturalization N-400

Hi Giys,

I don't know specifically about your consulate, but I think most consulates don't need photos until the interview. They provide instructions so that the beneficiary can prepare for the interview. The consulate in Vietnam also adds instructions for obtaining photos to packet 3, but the beneficiary doesn't have to send any photos back with the forms.

I-134:

Question 7: I have life insurance through my work (I don't pay anything for it out of pocket) payable to my beneficiary after my death. So do I need to put down the life insurance payout benefit here?

No, probably not. The form is asking about "whole life" policies that have an investment component that you can borrow against or cash out. The value you would enter in section 7 would be the current cash out value. Whole life policies are expensive. It's unlikely your employer is providing you with whole life insurance. It's more likely they are providing you with term life insurance, which has no cash out value, and pays only in the event you die.

What the consulate is looking for is assets that you can tap into to support your wife if you are having financial problems. They don't expect you to die in order to pay up.

Question 11: I am not sure what exactly is the purpose for this. My guess is that since she is immigrating here permanently, this need not to be filled. Correct???

The VJ example form has both check boxes unchecked, and "N/A ( K1 visa process for permanent residence )" written in the box. We followed the VJ example it was accepted at our consulate without problems. However, the London consulate apparently gets agitated if the sponsor doesn't check the "Intend" box. I don't know if the consulates in India are picky about how you answer this question. Maybe you could post this question the regional forum.

Enough funds for what? Is your income high enough to qualify? If so, and if your tax return proves it, then you probably don't need any bank statements, or any documentation of any other assets.
