Probably the same reason that my wife's I-129F showed it was still in the initial review stages even after the visa was granted.

Great news! Green card received in the mail over the weekend.

I am somewhat confused though. Our RFE packet was delivered to CSC on Friday, Sept 10. Green card was printed on Wednesday, Sept 15. Online check of status on Monday, Sept 20 showed waiting on RFE. Saturday, Sept 25 green card delivered to home with issue date of 09/15. Monday, Sept 27 notice arrived stating that on Sept 20, her application was approved and that a green card will be issued and should arrive within 3 weeks.

Can anyone shed any wisdom on this???

Ouch.

Real Events happen in Real Time, mostly - but

recording that real event rarely happens in real time

so 'showing something' on the portal, is rarely done in real time

and

the online status portal is only as good as the human or automated bot PUTTING new status in.

re: greencard arriving before the notice - IMO, is different office locations, so is different queue for 'getting things done' - rarely do they match up . sometimes, the 'proper sequence' occurs, but ....
