NVC has wrong birth date

We got our NOA2 last week. Today I called the NVC to see if they had received our file and to get our new case number. They asked our USCIS receipt #, beneficiary's name and DOB. The person I spoke with said the DOB was incorrect. I was sitting next to my fiance, with copies of our application on the table in front of us. The DOB I gave was not incorrect.

She said she could not give me our new case number, she could not tell me the DOB that they do have on file, and she could not tell me any further information about our case at all unless I provide the 'correct' information.

When I insisted that I had the correct information and hers was incorrect, she said I could send a letter, copies of birth certificate, etc, claiming this and they could process the change (at what length of time, I don't know).

Has anyone had this experience? Is it just a clerical / data entry error or something more serious? If they have the wrong DOB but don't know it, does it even matter? Could they just approve and send to the embassy anyway? Will this put us in NVC limbo indefinitely? Should we be very worried?

Thanks.

Messi,

I don't know what to say other than I'm so sorry about that. The initial wait was long enough and now this. I hope it can be fixed very quickly for you, like in days... I assume that NVC needs this info, not USCIS? Did you ask about being able to fax it or scan and email it?

So sorry...

Thanks Ryna. We're hoping it's just a data entry / clerical error and that the case will continue to be processed, but we don't know, since they won't tell us anything about the case (unless of course we can confirm the incorrect birth date, which is, obviously, ridiculous). We emailed a scan of his birth certificate and passport immediately. Called again today but the change has not yet been processed, so they still can't tell us anything about our case, not even a case number.
