Quick and in a nutshell. I have a friend that met this nice chick from Moldova over here with the student visa (J-1) program. Well, now she wants to switch it, if at all possible to a tourist visa, with the maximum time (6 months I think). But her time is very short. I think she is supposed to depart on September 11th of all days so we have until now and then to figure this baby out. Now, she wants to hire a lawyer and all that jazz, which may expedite the process, but with you guys' help and advice I can probably do it myself for them. I did all the paperwork for me and my wife, from Ukraine, with no hassle.....well, headaches, but legally no hassles. So I think I can save these guys a few hundred if I can get some good info. Thanks. And if it is not possible at all OR if it WILL be substantially better for them to get a lawyer please respond soon as the days are numbered for this cute couple. Thanks all!

Websites and names are very welcome:

Why I cannot honestly answer as I do not know the intentions of this chick. I do know that she is not pulling a stowaway job or anything similar because she has family back home. I don't know her that well personally, as I said I am asking these questions for a friend because I have dealt with these types of situations before. I would presume that she would like to stay here. But in having said that, she wants to do it the absolute most legal way possible. So, that's why she wants the quick switch to buy some time and then see if things pan out for her as she supposes they will. That's about all I can say truthfully. Appreciate the form for sure. If you have any more advice on expediting the process I/we would be in your debt. Thanks again!

You do not have answer to me, she needs to answer to USCIS.

My guess is that the last thing she would want is for this case to be expedited.
