It's been better than I thought. I'm 52 and had been married before, so I had no illusions. But the main reason I am pleasantly surprised is that I had no idea what a joy children would be.

Of course, when they turn out to be serial killers I'll feel differently.

if you gave your info (receipt #s, full name, etc) to anyone on VJ under the guise that they would "help" you through the immigration journey with his inside contacts (like his sister at USCIS) ... please contact OLUInquiries@dhs.gov, and go to http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact to report anything suspicious. Contact your congressman and senator's offices as well.

It's the same as I expected, I guess.

Things have happened during our first year of marriage that we never could have anticipated. Two deaths in the family, a car dying, unemployment stress, financial troubles, family conflict, an attempted suicide in the family, legal fears, potentially losing our house.. but when it comes down to it, I feel so happy with my husband and I fully believe that we can get through anything.

We're both young (23 and 26) and we've been told that we handle things so maturely, but I really don't see any other way we COULD act, because it's just a case of sticking together, and taking things one step at a time. ####### happens in life when you don't expect it, the important thing is how it's handled. If we can have the most traumatic week of our marriage so far (which we just have) and still come together with pizza and a Disney movie and laugh together (as we just have) then we'll survive. The day I don't want to come to my husband during these times is when I'll worry.

this is awesome! sometimes it's hard to come together as a couple when you've always been 'just me' and some people NEVER learn how to be part of a couple... this is why people admire the way you handle things.

best wishes

My marriage (going on 10 months soon) is everything I hoped it would be & more.

That still doesn't prevent the nostalgia remembering when my ex would greet

me when I walked through the door with a frying pan or rolling pin in the jeff-bagwell.jpgposition!

...and all that accompanied by a series of complaints

about things I screwed up that hadn't entered into my

wildest imagination until she laid them on me all at once.

Oh yes, the good old days... :bonk:

I answered, yes. There's no perfect marriage because ideal isn't the reality. Ups and down are part of married life. I don't expect so much that's why I don't get disappointed. I learn to be contented because I accept my husband for who he is. Life isn't easy but I am happy because we both work out our life together to make it more bearable.
