hi everyone

my wife is on a 2 year green card and its about to expire feb 2011. i know we can do the new AOS for 10 year green card 90 days before here current card expires, but she wanted to visit her family in Vietnam some time in feb, is it possible to leave the country and return while the 10 year AOS is processing? im also a little worried that if they schdule us for a interview while she is gone it will cause more problems.

She will get an extension letter when the I-751 is filed. That gives her 1 more year on the current green card. She wants to carry that letter along with her Green Card if she's going home for Tet (or just a visit).

If an interview is scheduled during her time away just request a different date. The appointment letter will give you the process information.

She could also put her interview as top priority and come back for it. I know that people have run into problems with rescheduling AOS interviews, I don't think that ROC would be any different.

moved from AOS forum as OP is actually asking about the Removal of Conditions application for the 10 year card so is more appropriate in this forum

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
