Obama Job Approval Continues to Deteriorate

No president ever delivers on all his campaign promises so that's not realistic compared to my simple but measurable standard of asking what legislation was successfully blocked by the GOP.

Obama could have built up his political power by demonstrating his leadership in the economy or foreign policy but chose to back healthcare reforms that had nothing to do with our economic problems. He's so easy to oppose and hard to support because he's done little that is demonstratively positive to most people. If he made progress somewhere, people would be more willing give him more of their trust and build up his political capital.

Simply put you don't give more power, more money and more support to anyone in charge who hasn't made things better. With your rationale I could easily be your supervisor and claim any failures are your fault because you didn't give me everything I wanted.

You have valid points, even without considering the very realities that have landed this country in the state its in. Political realities, that is.

Obama could have handled things much more robustly while satisfying his campaign promises and the mandate he was given- but he chose a middle of the road approach that has ticked off people that prefer the agenda above the need to do things stepwise with proper handling of obstructionist opposition. He could have consolidated Democrat power while continuing to govern in the style of his campaign, but actually taking government to the people on a consistent basis. Instead he has settled too much in the Washington machine, and that is disappointing.
