Hi, I was under the impression that once our forms reach the NVC, the processing is faster, but it seems like it's just as slow as the California Service Center. Our I-130 reached the California Service Center on Mar 1st, and it took more than 3 months to get the NOA-2. There was a little bit of a delay on our end, and though we could have mailed the forms to the NVC at the end of June, it took us until the end of July to actually mail them out. But now, when I spoke to the visa center, they said they schedule interviews the second week of every month, and we didn't make the September deadline, so it looks like the earliest the interview can happen is October. 6 to 7 months for the whole process!

How come processing is slow at the NVC? It takes about 6 weeks to process the forms we send in, and even for them to respond to e-mails it takes over a week. I heard that 10 years ago things were moving much faster, and I know a US citizen who came here 20 years ago that brought his wife soon after getting married - no need to fill up all these forms, no long waits (maybe a month?), no expensive fees. I shudder to think what the situation will be, say another 10 years from now.

6 to 7 months for the 'whole process', for a CR-1 visa? Yes?

My apologies, that's not slow at all.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

totally agree - you should be lucky it only took you a little over 3 months to get your NOA2. it took me 5 months and 10 days; I would have killed for 3 months!

Hang in there - the NVC is generally a lot faster, not to mention a heck of a lot more communicative (at least the operators know a lot more than the idiot USCIS drones). For me (ie for my wife) to go through NOA2 to interview to entering the US, it took exactly 3 months (NOA2 on 3-16; PoE in NYC to 6-18). The NVC for us went very fast w/o any complications or RFEs...I guess we paid for that time upfront when we were in USCIS NOA2 hell for 5+ months...
