If you use the receipt number provided on your NOA1, you will be able to check on your case status at the USCIS website. The "last updated" date is when your case was last touched or looked at. It basically lets you know that somewhere along the line, someone did SOMETHING to your case. Don't always know what, though!

when I look up my case status, there are just 4 circles (acceptance, initial review, decision, post-decision activity).. my cirlce is in "initial review" and below it says my case was received on June 29, but I don't see a "last updated" anywhere?

https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/selectusertype.jsp

Go to that link and make an account. Then you'll be able to add your case to your account. When you sign in, it'll show you the details of your case.

sign up for an account there, add your receipt number/s, then you can check your "case status" and there are dates there.

HTH

if you gave your info (receipt #s, full name, etc) to anyone on VJ under the guise that they would "help" you through the immigration journey with his inside contacts (like his sister at USCIS) ... please contact OLUInquiries@dhs.gov, and go to http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact to report anything suspicious. Contact your congressman and senator's offices as well.

  • 4 months later...

I received an email from USCIS on 12/08/10 with a receipt number and notification that our K-1 paperwork was sent to the California Service Center. I tried to go to the website (https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/selectusertype.jsp) enter our case with the 13 digit case number I received in the email but it sends me an error and says that no case exists with this number. I just talked with USCIS this week to change my address so I know they have the case...I'm totally confused.

What should I do?
