Perhaps we give them medals instead.

Yeah... no drama.

In the spirit of having people judged for their actions, they should maybe be judged for their alleged crimes independently of what shows up on Facebook? Its called being relevant.

Why is your focus on individual punishment?

because the reaction to this situation has been blown out of proportion and those who agree with it probably want her to burn her at the stake.

"probably want her to burn her at the stake" I know I know Hal, drama.

And once again you cant give a simple answer. What part of the story is missing that prohibits you from giving a personal opinion on what her punishment should be?

I believe I already did give what I think would be an appropriate punishment/retributive action for her. Care to read post #50 again? This time without the drama.

Noone here has said she should be burned at the stake, I know I haven't. Nothing even close to that.

I think you like fulfilling your own prophecies.

Don't know where you're trying to go with this other than, perhaps, downplaying inappropriate actions that have public and security implications on one side while as you yourself have stated (as in your post #33) without any factual reasoning and concluded a certain treatment of detainees.

Criminals are judged using evidence in tribunals, either military or civilian- depending on the nature of the alleged offenses and the setting in which the alleged offenses are committed. Its only logical, my friend.

Now calm down a little bit...

Please... that was just another convoluted answer to a basic question that I have been asking -

IMO, she's likely had enough public embarrassment already, as people that do stupid things sometimes regret their actions later. Hopefully, in the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, she begins doing something more in the direction of reconciliation, aka, seeking ways to not be construed as an IDF bully. But then again, she isn't in uniform anymore, so maybe her plan should change.

What do you see as a justifiable punishment?

You know my point, quit it with the games.

He said public embarrassment. How is that not clear?

No I don't. You think the issue is being blown out of proportion so you are ascribing opinions to people in this thread that have not been expressed.

If anything, YOU are the one who is blowing it out of proportion after first attempting to downplay and even justify the soldier's behaviour!

Maybe due process is something convoluted to you... but for reasonable people, its a logical and straightforward answer.

Maybe someone else can chime in with an opinion that isn't dramafied.

No games intended. If the evidence points for the need for a strict punishment, such as a retroactive dishonorable discharge, or payback of part of the IDF discharge payment IDF soldiers receive, then guess who's decision that would be? Yep... IDF. ;) What I'd like to see happen has no bearing on REALITY... something you're grappling against, and I don't know why.

The point you've made clear is that you'd like to see due process take a backseat to what your feelings on hypotheses that you're drawing up would be.

put post #33 in context and then we might have a productive conversation on this issue.

A semantic approach while ignoring the very obvious point...how original.

No need to, Im not worked up. Whats up with you and madhouse always trying to tell me how I feel?

Can someone here help Simpson get it? Maybe a picture would be better than the obvious words about what lawful, civilized societies permit themselves.

Maybe someone other that Madhouse too... so there's no confusing yet another rational explanation with a pro-terrorist, anti-Israel conspiracy amongst liberals [/snide]

D'Oh!
