because if these men had just blown up a elementary school very view people would of given a dam, like it or not it is what it is.

As far as the soldier goes I think it wasnt a smart thing to do for the sake of the bigger picture. That said had I been the only one to see the pic and I knew these prisoners had just tried to blow up a elementary school I wouldnt think any less of her, would you?

Well I'm sure if they had just blown up a school I doubt the soldiers would be all smiles.

They would have posted to Myspace instead.

But you don't know what they have done, so pointing out an "if they had" has no relevance (if not to justify the actions of the soldier).

It also ignores the points made in the article itself, where both Palestinian and Israeli officials condemn, in no uncertaing terms, the actions of the soldier depicted in the photo (as they absolutely should).

I don't think any less of her now. I do think less of the occupation. I doubt she'd have done anything like this had she not been enforcing an occupation.

Yep. It dehumanises everyone involved (as has for decades).

Simpson, let's drop the royal "we" shall we?

If you didn't want drama why post the story, then add a comment that sounds as if you are justifying it?

I...you happy now?

I made the comment because I believe her actions though stupid are getting blown our of proportion.

A few, I'm sure. The question being: why would you?

You made my point. You must have forgot. Remember when all those private contractors were being beheaded and photographed. Set on fire and dragged thru the streets.

Abugraib received much more attention. No I am not justifying this either.

Put enough stupid actions in any conflict together, and everything gets blown out of proportion, over and over again. Then nothing gets resolved due to the drama.

How does throwing in a fictional "if" suggest that the soldier's actions are getting "blown out of proportion". Is this a big story in the world media?

More imaginative thinking on your part.

That doesn't answer the question I asked.

You probably could find pictures of beheaded corpses, but why would you? What would it add to this story?

It does matter because thats the context I(not we) put it in.

It also ignores the points made in the article itself, where both Palestinian and Israeli officials condemn, in no uncertaing terms, the actions of the soldier depicted in the photo (as they absolutely should).

They condemned it for obvious political reasons. Does this mean that they condem this girl on a personal level?
