K-1 Visa processing time in Ankara

Hello Friends,

I would appreciate help from people who RECENTLY got an appointment from Ankara for the k1 interview.

I am wondering about the soonest date they can give. I am checking Ankara's web page where it lists all the interview times from now on. Today is the 17th of August but there are scheduled interviews for the 24th of February of next year. I am guessing these are for the people who voluntarily picked those days, but I am not sure. If our package arrives in Ankara just now, and if we ask from them the soonest possible date, which date would we get approximately? Any ideas?

Maybe I am not very clear. What is the minimum waiting period after Ankara receives the package, until the interview?

And is it possible to reschedule the interview for an earlier time?

Our interview date is scheduled for 27 Sep...This date was assigned around the end of May. So you can imagine the disappointment having to wait another four months. You can ask and request and earlier date. From what I understand, some have actually gotten scheduled earlier. We didn't ask for an earlier date, but I've written to the Embassy using their contact form and they've been very quick and friendly about my inquiries. The whole part of the process from start to finish will have taken a whole year. Hope this helps a little...Good Luck!

They scheduled mine almost 6 months after they got the file from NVC...

I was expecting a maximum of 9 moths or so, for the whole thing.. Do you think that asking for a reschedule to an earlier date is a risky, not a recommended thing to do? Because you didn't do that, and people generally don't do that?

I really don't think it's a risk to ask. All they can do is tell you NO. The unfortunate thing is, Ankara serves as the hub for all Visa matters. They also take care of Iraqi applicants as well. It would be nice if the Embassies in Istanbul and Adana could handle, too. I would give it a try..they are very nice and quick to reply. But expect another long wait, as hard as it is. If I'm not mistaken, the two couples listed below me under the 'Upcoming Interviews', one of them had a date for December and now have October, because they asked for an earlier date. We didn't ask for an earlier date to not mess with fate..The September date was meant to be..Good things have happened to us, because we've had to wait so long...

I think they set the date close to the expiration date of your NOA2. Like mine will expire 10/24 and my date is 10/13. I have noticed this on several peoples timelines.

I called and asked for a sooner date..10/04..and they promptly declined my request:)

Efe's original interview date was about 6 months from when he received the appointment date. The Ankara embassy has always been so quick to reply to all of my questions (via e-mail) so we decided to send a quick e-mail to the embassy asking for an earlier appointment date. We did end up receiving an earlier appointment date. We didn't put any pressure on ourselves about the e-mail. If they said no- we were meant for the late December date and we would be happy with that. But since they did end up saying yes hopefully that's how it was all supposed to work out.
