sure thing, youtube blocker!

All it takes is one senior manager on that board who likes his YouTube time too much to say no to our request. And if he does, we have documentation ready to go to request a lot of money to upgrade networks in our branches nationwide. I suspect the YouTube ban will then be approved.

eta: or he/she could say no to both and then i will be pissed

I am not going to tip any fat waiters in future as I think it's encouraging them to eat more.

It's like paying unemployment benefit to unemployed people or buying a drink for an alcoholic

Only boney maroneys get tips and then it's only 10% and only then if I am having a good day and nobody wishes me one.

Ask your Italian friend why they charge you more money to drink coffee sitting down than they do if you stand up.

Because when you are sitting down in Italy, you are protected from having your bottom pinched.

Hm I always look at it this way: in Germany waiters are paid minimum wage, but that's a whole lot more than here (my friend got 13 Euros per hour!), and it includes benefits. So they are paid not badly. Leaving a small tip is normal (e.g. you had a cocktail for 12 Euros, so you give 13 Euros). If the waiter was really fast and nice, you give more. But most waiters are slowwwww as can be, so why tip? They make enough money, get health insurance, unemployment insurance etc.... On a side note, the net price and taxed price is clearly printed on any German receipt. it clearly points out how much the bill would be without 19% VAT. Everybody is very aware of the outrageous tax.

I see the point of tipping in the USA for the small wage they make. But many places will automatically charge you 18% tips for a group of 4 or more. That's ridic. A normal service gets 15%, only if you were good you get more. Most waiters, even here in the US, are slow and unfriendly, sorry to say so, but that's what we have seen. My hubbie worked at Applebees during college and knows what good service looks like, and lately it seems hard to find.

Paying tips has its pros and cons; with much better service a result of it.

On a good day, waiters can earn big bucks; however, during a slow period, waiters are almost working for free.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

A European friend posted on her status update (she is visiting US) and I think she's right about this:

If I make my own waffles, pour my own drink, and bring all my food to the table, it is against my common sense to give you a tip, sorry...
