Hey Kath - thanks! I think I will just have to go to the BirthDeathMarriage registry get my name changed, get drivers license changed (for photo ID to change passport) then apply for a new passport to inc my middle name. Unfortunately, I just have to wait over a week...and hopefully thats it! I was thinking of getting my citizenship name changed but that takes two weeks. I can get the name change on the spot or a day later, same with drivers license.

Moonie - ask your hubby to go to his local GP, get blood tested for those vacinnations needed TD, MMR etc to see if hes immune to the things listed for the vacinnation. If hes not, he will just need to get the vacinne for it. I already had chicken pox and it showed up on the blood test so I didnt need to do get that done, but TD (i think it was). I never had mumps but the other two I had - when I went in for the medical, they said I had to get the MMR done again. So if thats the case with your hubby, make sure he checks with the assigned physcian.

Hey folks if any of you are thinking of flying soon better check flights now cause I had a really difficult time getting a flight into JFK as my POE because of Easter and school hols. Now flying through Bangkok.

NYCangel awesome news that you were able to change your interview date! :D

Moonie I think I already wished you congrats but if not congratulations to you and to Vylex too on the NOA1 oh and Serendipitous on your NOA2 (my god yr timeline is so quick compared to ours)...wahoo!! :D

Hi Jodee, my fiance is military too so I know what it is like and how proud of them you feel. Jake came back from Iraq last year and now I just want to get over there and spend time with him before he has to go again. I wish your hubby a safe and speedy return. Thank you to all who serve our countries.

Well I have a question.. I am not sure how to handle my name change when i am married....I want to hyphenate my name so I have mine and Jake's surnames but I am wondering because it will be complicated whether I just use his surname in bills for the AOS proof and what happens when I apply for SSN when I get there and then get married?? Name change then?

Oh and Hampster, chocolate free today! :P I am so proud of myself but then again it is only 6.13pm still time to lash out and grab a choccy if I need! Thank god that adelaide song didn't stay in my head! lol

I just read something here:

http://usembassy-australia.state.gov/consular/ivfaq.html

That says that the interviews are conducted at the Sydney Consulate.

I was under the impression that my boyfriend would be able to have his interview in Melbourne.

We've just received our NOA2 and we're all excited! But i'm a little worried now that it seems like he has to interview in Sydney.

Is Sydney the only place to interview then?

This is from the FAQ issued by the consulate..

I live a long way from Sydney. Why do I have to go there for an interview?

The Consulate in Sydney is the only U.S. immigrant visa processing post in Australia. Likewise, although a fiancé(e) visa is a non-immigrant visa, the process is very similar to applying for an immigrant visa; therefore, fiancé(e) visa applicants must apply through the U.S. Consulate in Sydney.

Sorry for the double post but it wouldn't let me edit.

Okay, on my I-129F form, I also put in that his consulate was: Melbourne, Australia. (I didn't realize that Sydney was the only one processing these types of applications..)

Will that cause a delay in NVC sending the packet over to the consulate? Will they send it to the wrong place?

Man.. I'm so frustrated.

hi seren

yep all interviews are conducted in sydney.. Melbourne only does tourist visa's and other inquiries not immigration visa's

im sure NVC would know it has to go to Syd but just to put your mind at rest why dont you email NVC and tell them of your concerns...NVC is the State Department in the state...go to their website and find their email address..

please double check that the following email address is the correct one NVCA@state.gov

one other tip...if he gets an interview on a friday he will either have to get the passport posted down to him or stay in Syd till monday to go in and get it...

good luck

Rings

yes you can get the fingerprints and police check done anytime you dont have to wait for the packet for that Just go to your police station and take photo id and tell them you need them done for a visa for usa. it is valid for 12 months.

also to help with the medical if you go to your normal doctor you can get a blood test done to see what immunisations you need. i did this and i got a print out from my doctor saying that everything was up to date i only need a tetnus booster which i got from mt doc ( on medicare ) so when i went to the consulate doc i had the print outs from my gp and he used them as proof. i also made a copy of them before i went to for my own records.

hi ya

your most welcome pris there are some cool recipes in there...

rings you can have it way before you get your interview date but keep in mind if your going the K3 way the medical and police check are valid for 12 months..i say this because in the K3 you have to do AOS and they request the vaccination sheet be valid..if you do your AOS after the 12 month expiry date you will have to have another medical in the states and that can be expensive here...

hi ya angela how you doing...all well where you are at ...much cold going on down there...

Elle,

I'm glad you brought this topic up. I just realized that I have been using my wife's first, middle (mother's maiden), and last (maiden) name on the I-130 and G-325A. However, her passport, driver's license and most if not all her docs are in her first and last (maiden) name. However, our marriage certificate (US) states first, middle (mother's maiden) and last (maiden) name.

Do you know about how she would go about adding her middle name? Can she simply take our marriage certificate to have her middle name added to her driver's license and then use the driver's license (photo proof) to add her middle name to her passport?

I just want to streamline everything now. If I had realized it earlier I would have not included a middle name in her applications. Her name is unique enough that I doubt it would fall under the John Smith duplicatae names category haha.

Would the consulate issue her Visa with just her first and last name if we wanted that? Once she gets to the US she would change her last name to my name anyway. Ugh....so annoying. It may not be a big deal but it still seems like a hassle at times.

Thanks!

Thank you all so much for your advice. I think that at least if Loke gets these things lined up and appointments made, then we should be able to have all of it done and ready before they expire and it will make us both feel as if we are doing something more.

NAME CHANGE - I actually know about this because I am doing it at the moment. I am in Denver, Colorado though so I think it may be slightly different depending on where you are. I actually had to change my social security card first. They require all original documentation in order to do it so you have to make sure that you have certified copies of stuff because you may need it for the immigration process and the social security office can hold the originals for a couple of weeks. Once you change your name on this, then you can change your drivers license, but it is a waste of 4 hours at the DMV if you have not changed your social security card first. After these two major things, then everything else is easy and most people do not require proof (bills and stuff) as long as you call them and tell them you got married and you now have a new name. You will want to change it on your post box as well, but also keep your other last name listed as well until things slowly turn over. All that you need to change your information is the marriage certificate and the social security office honored the Australian marriages certificate for me, but I did also provide them with a certified copy of my divorce decree as well. I hope this helps you out some.
