I had to collect my medical results from the doctor's office and mail it along to them.

The (Aussie) police check was forwarded directly to the Consulate.. this is the case for QLD and NSW but I think for other states it gets sent to you first.

The medical results took about 2 days to process as they had to wait for the blood work to come back from the lab

The police check took about a week. I think you should be able to send in your readiness once you have done them both

the medical is sent directly to the consulate but ask that doctor to give you a copy of it

the certificate comes in the mail to you (or your fiance - whoever asked for it) - i was in NSW ....

I contacted the consulate with a few questions and here is some info others may be interested in:

"Once we receive the submitted documentation it takes 7-10 working days to review everything. Once the review is complete, you will be contacted with any additional requirements and an interview date. Interviews are held on Tuesday mornings."

a little more insight into the process.

Looking over other peoples time lines from this year, it looks like the average time between packet 4 and interview seems to be about 2 weeks. Though I have seen the occasional 3 -4 week in there.

Hey Kath,

I am quite sure you will be approved for the 10 year greencard before I will be.........VSC seem to be processing December 2007 at the moment, so looks like about 11 or 12 months wait. I sent my I-751 end of February 2008 and haven't been touched since march this year! I just hope it is approved before the 12 month extension letter expires but I'm not stressing yet. Hopefully they don't stop working over the holidays for too long because that will push things back. The trip to Montreal was great........will talk soon. SNOW!!! We got our first big storm on the 29th., October and ended up with 2 feet of it!!! Oh well......it's just what happens when you live here near the Great Lakes.

Nice to see some old faces in here. Everyone sounds like they are doing really well and settling into life in the USA.

Sharyna, Congrats !!. Hope it all goes well for you and don't forget to let us know how you and your new baby are doing after the birth.

For all of you still going through the journey.........KEEP SMILING & STAY POSITIVE.....it will happen and all the stress and heartache will be worth it in the end.

Take care everyone,

Susan :)

Police checks in Aus are requested by the person who wants them, they can be done at any time as long as you mail off the form and pay the fee (its $32.50 in QLD not sure if it varies state by state) they are then vaild for 12 months. In theory if you were to apply for it say in the next couple of weeks/month you should be fine.

I personally plan to get the forms and post it off mid Dec, normally it takes 2 -3 weeks which should mean I would have it in the first couple of weeks of Jan, plenty of time since my NOA is predicted end of Jan.

^ You have to get the one with fingerprints and when I got mine in July it cost about $149, the cheaper one is for the name check only.

When you had yours done, did you get a copy yourself, or did they send it to the consulate for you? We were hoping to get his done before the NOA2 is approved and have everything ready to go, but someone told me they mail them directly there themselves, and I wonder how that would work if the consulate doesn't have his stuff in their system yet?

You can specify on the form which address you want it sent to. Whether his or the consulate's- it's his choice. I had it sent to them just so it would save me trouble on mailing it.. but if you want to get it done ahead of time go ahead and have it sent to him. Just make sure he doesnt open it or else it becomes invalid. He should receive it back after/at his interview because they returned both of mine to me (Aus & Japanese police certificates)

does it come in some special packaging or something? what shouldn't you open exactly that would make it invalid?
