I HAVE MY INTERVIEW DATE..!!!

hey congrats on your interview date Poi_n_J.

Can you tell me when they have scheduled you in for? My NVC approval is about a month behind yours so would be interested to know how far out your interview will be! Thanks!

It's wonderful news for you! Best of luck with the rest of your journey! :)

Hey HD!

It's in my sig ;-) - Dec 19 - just two days before I leave for my Xmas holiday with J.. so I need to know whether they give it to you on the spot or not and if not I'd have to send in for a later date.

Wow! That's so speedy after your case was sent to Sydney! Good for you! :)

From what I have been reading, if you have an early morning interview, there is a chamce you might get your visa on the same day. I hear that most visa's are ready the next day for collection (except for Friday, where pick up is on Monday), or you should take an express envelope if you require your visa to be mailed to you!

Like I said though, this is only what i have read - I am not quite there yet!

Can anyone else confirm this info for Poi_n_J?

Hmm...well that would be good only that raises another question - if all that happens alright that would make my holiday flight my POE which would mean I can't come back home before returning...??? :help:

hi ya pat

on the K1 visa... once you are over here and got married you then do your AOS and EAD...the AOS is your greencard once that is approved then you can travel freely and get back into the states...BUT if you want to travel overseas before it is approved you have to apply for the AP which gives you permission to re-enter the states...

i think thats what you were talking about yes...ohh and on the medical...the only reason you go to your local doc is to save money mate... if you go to the medical examiner to get that done they will organise the blood test but you might not be able to claim it on medicare... why dont you give the medical examiner a ring and ask that very question ...x-rays you have to get done by the medical examiner...and will charge...and on the waiting period for your interview best bet would be to look up some k1'ers timelines for australia..

katz congrats to you on your approval..thats awesome news...things will sure start moving along for you now...

hi ya pris

congrats on getting your interview date...whoooo hoooo after all this time finally on your way over here chookie..so happy for you...

take care

as HD said..they either issue it the day before...not heard anything since hammy did his interview about getting it on the same day..

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh penny just dropped...you would need ya passport huh if ya coming over here...will have to look around for that answer pris...wondering if the CR1 is the same as the K3 visa...because with the k3 your allowed to go back and re-enter...will do some research for ya..

I just got off the phone with the office of Dr. David Miller (Adelaide Medical Examiner). I spoke to Joan and she was so very helpful and really understanding of my many questions. I can’t wait to meet her in person :)

Anyway, I was ready to make my appointment for next Thursday (getting my Hep B jab in the morning so I figured I’d go straight to Dr. Miller and kill two birds with one stone on the same day). But Joan suggested that I wait for a letter that she’ll be sending over the weekend and one that I’ll get on Monday. Apparently they get so many applicants who get really anxious/excited about their medical and they forget things. So I figured that’s a fair enough reason and I myself would rather get it right the first time than have to go again and again (& I’m sure the Dr. himself wouldn’t appreciate it, not to mention it’ll cost me extra $$$). So I said, that’s fine I’ll wait for the letter. Even more so since she said that Dr. Miller isn’t extremely busy at the moment so getting an appointment shouldn’t take too long(*knocks on wood*).

She grabbed my details, etc, etc. Then I started asking her some questions. Like if I could get the X-Rays done there. Yes. Can I get my HIV/Syphillis done there. Yes. Then I asked her that all I need to do was bring all my results – at this point she thought I hadn’t gotten my immunity checked and when I told her I had, she was very happy and called me a “smart good girl” for being ahead of the game :) Then I told her I was getting my Hep B done Thursday and she got perplexed as to why when apparently I wasn’t in the age range to have to need it. She said that only if you’re not 19 yet that you’d need it. But at the same time, she said that I’m more than welcome to get it done if I wanted to (which I do, because I was born in Asia and I’m high risk). So yeah, apparently I don’t need a Hep B! She then told me that she’ll send me an age chart and it’ll show on there which vaccinations I will need. Handy.

So there you go. There’s my experience with Dr. Miller (so far). Tracy, I didn’t get to ask whether I can go to other clinics and she didn’t mention it either. I’m not too fussed, I work in the City and North Adelaide isn’t too far away and I kinda want to meet Joan anyway.

So here’s hoping that I will still get my Thursday appointment and get it done and dusted. I’m one of the anxious one, but I also want to get right.

Well, we’re off to Sydney tomorrow for the weekend! I get the feeling that I’ll be back in Sydney faster than you can say – K1 Visa :)

Have a lovely weekend everybody!

Hi Pat - that's great the lady there was so helpful. Things are finally moving along! Would you mind sharing the medical check list once they send it through to you? I hope you had a lovely time in Sydney!

I should get my immunity results on Wendnesday, and then get the remainder of my shots.. :-) Almost ready for packet 3. I'm hoping it's soon because I am off to the US for 3 weeks over Christmas to spend with my hubby so would like to get the medical out of the way and statement of readiness sent back by the time I leave!

I have my police clearance appointment tomorrow for finger printing. Does anyone know if I need to take a passport sized picture along with me? They didn't mention it on the phone when I made the appointment but I thought I should check..

Hopefully everyone is having a nice weekend!

Bye for now.

Thanks for that Kath; you're a treasure! How are things going for you? Looking forward to a white Christmas? I am :)

Guess it looks like my original decision to get them to change the interview date will have to be the go; everything else is just too messy. Too bad I got all excited and bought a ticket to Sydney..oh well....

Sydney was great! But the after effects of climbing the bridge without stretching is now hitting me. I've stayed home from work (but still working) because my legs keep cramping up. It really hurts. But really worthwhile thing to do, climbing the bridge. Also, Zach & I had every intention to find the US Consulate but never got the time :)

I'll scan the checklist when I get it this morning.

The only thing I needed for my police check and finger printing was my passport, my drivers license and he also asked for my credit card (I guess as another form of ID). I didn't have to give him a passport photo. Just be prepared to have every inch of your palms scanned :)

Hey Pat - glad you had a super time in Sydney - sorry about the calves though! ;-)

My hubby and I went to Sydney for our Honeymoon (his first trip there). We also did the bridge climb and WHOOO, what a VIEW! We were so glad we did it, even walked away with the great pics to remember the special day! :-) Thanks for the info on the Police clearance too.. I think I have everything I need in that case! Great!

Well, 14 more working days until I am off to Hawaii to visit my boy for 3 whole weeks!! We are very excited! The last time we saw each other was early October when he came out here. I wish I was going with the visa in my passport.

Oh well, hopefully the next trip will be a one way ticket! (We are hoping for February) :-)

Have a great day people.. HD.

Hi Guys...

sounds like you are all having a WONDERFUL TIME...

and Pat yes scan in that checklist when you get the chance, that would be great...

Guys I cannot CONTAIN myself...

I just bought my wedding dress.....

whoo hooo... check it out..

http://www.davidsbridal.com/search.jsp?sea...ch_query=VW9340

Davids Bridal - style VW9340

I have had my heart set on this dress for months, and just by accident saw someone selling it (my size and all) on EBAY - totally brand new & never worn... (having never purchased anything on ebay) I was a bit wary, so I rang the lady this morning (she is in the USA) chatted with her.... all on the up and up... so paid the money and while I was doing that she already had it boxed up ready to Express it to me (MOnday USA time)... BEST thing is that all up including shipping I am getting it for less than half of what it is for sale for... whooo hooo ... oh and I can now spend what I have saved on dresses for my daughter and soon to be step-daughter... how COOL is that...

Just had to share cause I am so excited (and I think this dress - especially for a second marriage) is not too over the top and not too "weddingish" if you know what I mean... and being that it now looks like we might have an April interview (thereabouts) with a move over in May we will be looking at late May early June wedding - I think this dress will be just perfecto... tell me what you think..

have a GREAT day folks...

Okay, the postie has come and gone and the letter has arrived.

My apologies in advance if the quality is low. I made it re-size to 50% thinking it was going to be okay, but I guess not. The first 2 pages are still readable (and is only really relevant specifically for Tracy & HD). The last page is quite bad in its original form so scanning it didn't make it any better.

Basically, for most people who are over 18 years old, the vaccinations you need are: Td, MMR and Varicella.

Oh, Dr. Miller also sent me a guide to how to get to his clinic. (Sorry, didn't bother scanning that).

N.B. This is the first time I'm uploading a document on VJ so fingers cross it works!

P.S. I'm calling Dr. Miller later today to set up an appointment. Going to get my 3 passport photos done this evening. Picking up my Letter of Results from my Doctor this afternoon. I'm really hoping that I can get an appointment this week, but it may not be until next week or the week after. Wish me luck!

Anyone know if they require Oz sized passport pics or the US size for the medical? I had some US ones done but now I'm thinking I probably need the Oz size for this..

What's the difference between the AUS size and the US size passport photos? When I was visiting in Aus in June my fiance and I got passport photos taken (I'm assuming AUS-type photos), and I handed them in with my I-129F petition so they were ok for that. Now online I'm seeing huge square pictures as US style passport photos...so I held up one of the photos I had taken in AUS to my U.S. passport, and they are the same exact size! I'm confused...

I wanted to say hi to everyone and I have been enjoying silently reading your thread for a while! I may start posting more now that my fiance should be getting his packet 3 sometime soon and will be preparing for the interview.
