A panel doctor has to verify it, but anyone can administer it. IF you are unsure as to what you've had done, a blood test can tell you what you have. Go to your local doctor and ask them to write out an order or whatever for the above shots , get your blood tested, and in a week or so, you'll know, then either get them, or get your doctor to print out a list of all the stuff you have and sign and date it.

If there is something you don't have and need, the Panel doc can do it for you.

As for the list, dunno if it's been changed, but when I had mine, they said all I needed was Chicken Pox, Tetanus and MMR.

*lightbulb* OOHHHh packet 3? Yeah, I didn't make an appointment till I got the Consulate Medical Forms and Doctors list that comes in packet 3. I got mine within the week, but I probably could have gotten it the following day if I lived anywhere near the docs.

Thanks so much for the information :) . This is really helpful. I've made an appointment for my immunity to be tested in a few days and then "ll get all of the above shots that I need..

Then I should be good to go by the time packet 3 comes and I have to go for my medical. :)

Gosh, I need to chill and stop worrying.. so glad I found out about this now though!

Thanks for your help guys!

Didn't mean to scare you hawaiiandreams :) It won't take long to get tested, get the results back and then start the vaccinations.

I see that our timelines are very close to each other. And here I thought I was the last Aussie on this board who hasn't gotten that elusive visa yet :) My guess is that Packet 3 will arrive the week of December 3 - that's my gut feeling anyway.

I can tick off another thing for this whole visa process. I got my police check and fingerprinting done this evening. It took 3 visits to finally get it! It was pretty full on - they have every inch of my hands in that computer now :) Hopefully both Packet 3 and my police check certificate arrive near the same time.

hi ya

just a note on the blood tests

make sure your doctor prints out the results for you to take to the medical signed and dated..also save the receipts of medicare to take too..cos the doc will put the pathology on the medical where you got the results from...

also before getting all the vaccinations make sure you need them by age ... this would save you money ... also the other two diseases can be tested also on medicare..hiv and syphalis i think they were...when you go for your medical ask the examiner to make a copy for you to keep..

also keep all your interview paperwork in a folder that way you will know exactly where they are for the day..

when i was getting ready for my interview i had a big expandable folder where when i was collecting paperwork i just placed them in there and put it where i knew i would find it...i know how messed up a house can get when your sorting out stuff to do the big move..

ohh and make copies of everything that you might need for AOS and for future records for the doctors over here...

i hope ya dont mind the tips ..just some dont know these things...

ohhh i hope everyone had a lovely thanks giving...now for the big day not long now....where the hell has the year gone...lol

take care happy monday...

Hey Patricia - no worries, I am really glad you raised it! I was basically under the impression that the special panel physician would administer all of the vaccinations!

So now I have made the appointment with my GP to determine my immunity. I went through my medical records from when I was a kid last night and it looks like I can knock a few off this giant list! *phew* Looks like I should only need vaccinations for pertussis (anyonw know what the hell this is?!), influenzae type b (Hib), hepatitis B, pneumococcal and influenza. Not too bad from that giant list!! *nervous laugh* (I am phobic of needles :o ))

And we are so close on the timeline.. :) Some exciting times ahead for us... YIPPEE!

I didn't get my police clearance as yet, I also thought I had to wait for more instructions on this (in packet 3). Can you tell me what you took with you to the police station and asked them for? Is there something I can print off the web about the consulates requirements? That would be so helpful :)

Thanks Kath, your tips are always welcome! :) I was wondering about the HIV and syphalis though, did I understand correctly that I can also get my GP to do these for me and simply take the resuslt along to my medical with the panel physician to show them? And what did you mean by "vaccinations needed by age"?

Thanks a million ladies.. happy journey Pat.. stay in touch okay..

Hope you had a lovely thanksgiving Kath... there is hope I can celebrate thanksgiving with my hubby next year :)

The Police Check and fingerprinting is all pretty easy... and you can print off a request form (from ANY state police website). What you are after is a NATIONAL Police Check. With fingerprinting it is about $142-146.... When You go to the police station to get it done...take your passport as well as some other form of photo identification (d/license) and A COPY OF your Birth certificate (and the original for them to sight) LOL - I think we are all getting used to that aren't we?

re: the vaccinations- I went to my local Doctor (with that list) we knocked a couple off after having a blood test... but basically I ended up being a "pin-cushion" for the rest <grin>

Hey people,

To anyone who is interested, I started my moving quotes today (just getting ahead of myself). I have furniture for about a 1 bedroom apartment that will be coming with me to the States, along with lots and lots of shoes and clothes.. ;-)

Once this whole visa saga is done and dusted, I will be moving to Hawaii. I expected it would costs bucket to move my stuff from Melbourne to Hawaii, however I have to say I was plesantly surprised.

I called about 5 international mocing companies and found that not only was GRACE more cost effective, but they were extremely helpful and friendly over the phone. And more importantly, they are a well trusted name.

I made a move from Dubai home to Melbourne a few years back and the shipping agent in Melbourne was AWFUL *cough*.. Trans international.. *cough*... Rude, unprofessional, and lost a few of my boxes ;-( Trust me, when you are having all of your personal effects moved to the other side of the world you want PEACE OF MIND. I was definitely prepared to pay more for that but Grace look like they can offer a good proce along with the peace of mind :-)

Thanks to all of you for all of the vaccination help you gave me yesterday.. my blood should be on it's way for immunity testing as we speak. The not so good news is that with the Hep B shot, apparently I do have to wait the full month to get the second shot.. does anyone know if I have to wait for shot 2 to see the panel physician? From what Nphredil said they accept you without the third shot but I'm not sure if only the first one will be enough?

Also Kath, just wanted to clarify your comments about the HIV and syphalis test, do you know if you can get that one done by your ordinary GP and simply take the signed and dated results along to the medical? Or does it need to be done at the medical?

Have a great day all.. :)

hi ya HD

yep you can get hiv and syphilis done at your local gp

these are the blood tests that i had done for my age at 45..

HIV, MEASLES, MUMPS, RUBELLA, SYPHILIS, VARICELLA and i got the tetnus jab...

if you would like to see what kind of letter my gp gave me .. give me a hoy an i will email you a copy...

also how long were you in Dubai..only reason i ask is if you were there longer than 12 months you have to get a police check from them also..

on the Hep B jabs.. not too sure on the answer to that one..maybe do a search on vj about it..or email the consulate in sydney to just verify it for you...no harm in asking...also have a look at some of the posts in here cos i remember some of the other aussies had that jab and discussed your question...either rings.. loke or think it was sharyna..cant remember ... just do a nick search and take a look at some of their posts...

hope that helps ya out a bit..ohh and seein ya in melb if ya want pics of the embassey so ya dont get lost.. i can do that too..

take care

I came home this evening, checked the mail and there it was Packet 3 :) So of course I'm now frantically trying to round up all my paperwork because the faster I send that "Ready to be Interviewed" form the better for me, Zach and both our sanities :)

I feel a bit overwhelmed....
