Thanks Niphredil!

Yeah that part asking for DS-230 part I sounds wrong but since it only required your signature I would resend it and mention you sent a copy already to the NVC a while back. As for the police cert, I went with my wife when to the Penrith Police station in NSW and she will be getting her Name and Fingerprint check sent home instead of the embassy.

When you send the DS-2001, are you supposed to put all that extra documentation with it? Or are those items you bring with you and personally hand in on your interview date?

From my understanding, the only thing you send back with DS-2001 is DS-230 part 2 unsigned (and part 1 if you haven't done it and they send it to you) and the e-mail correspondence letter if you want e-mail correspondence (with, since mail takes about 4 days to get to me, I will be doing :P)

Everything else is a 'you must have before you send off DS-2002'. It however doesn't mention the Medical, and from talking to the receptionist, that will take about 1-2 weeks to compile and send to me (yay for living in the bush x.X, can't go and pick it up), so I'm hoping I'm not jumping the gun if I decide to send in my form this week (still waiting to hear from them in regards to the police certificate x.X).

I must admit, I am worried about the police certificate because.... :\ it looks like a grade 8 highschool certificate for being best in class x.X Oohh snazzy blue paper. I was expecting something saying "address - stayed for so long - no convictions. *next line* "address - stayed for so long - no convictions"*, not something I would confuse with one of my highschool certificate :\

The Beginning

September 29th, 1999 - 'hooked' up with Dave after chatting with him for about a year online.

October 23rd, 2004 - September 29th, 5 years to the day, he proposed to me =D

July 23rd, 2005 - Dave comes over for the wedding on July 27th at the beach :)

Sometime in December, he sends off I-130 to Texas and promptly leaves me in the dark like a mushroom x.X...

The Saga Continues *dumdeduuummm*

August - phone NVC. intriguing :\ Phoned again, ah hah! the truth... no record of us >< losers... Go and visit Dave for 3 months...

End of January, we sent the petition back in again. 2 weeks later, we actually get a number in our hot little hands.

April 5th - NOA2 approved!

April sometime, received and sent back Choice of Agent

May 18th - Received IV Bill

May 28th - Sent IV Bill MO back

June 11th - DS-230 generated

July 12th - Received and sent back DS-230 packet

July 19th - NVC Sent Husband checklist of AoS. They forgot to fill in N/A fills with.... N/A x.X

July 23rd - DS-230 entered

July 26th - NVC received checklist regarding financial suppliment (ie, got a talking to on the phone :P)

August 1st - sent financial papers back

August 3rd - (Automatic msg) Financial records lacking! ARGH!~

August 7th - Received actual fixed paperwork - 'processing'

August 17th - NVC COMPLETED CASE!~

September 10th - Received packet 3

September 17th - Medical in Brisbane

November 14th - Interview VISA GRANTED

December 8th - Landed in USA

December 24th - GreenCard Arrives

Cool! I will also have Vy send the email correspondence letter since waiting for seems to take forever! We are waiting for that police cert and after that, all docs should be in her possession. We just have to wait for the medical information then included with Packet 3. We also submitted the DS-230 part I to complete the case at the NVC so I hope they don't ask for it again. We have multiple copies anyhow so it's no big deal I guess.

Hmm, I wonder what the NSW one will look like. HS certificate! LOL! I bet it looks the same! Maybe I will have Vy leave it sealed so it looks official. She doesn't have any violations other than a parking ticket so I think it should be safe for her to leave it sealed. In any case, I am hoping that the Consulate doesn't mind having it brought in by you. Please let me know what they say. I am still waiting to hear back via email if they have received our case from the NVC yet. There was a message from the NVC phone system saying they forwarded the case to the consulate on Sep. 6th. I hope it's there and they are sending out the Packet 3.

Good luck and please keep us posted!

Congrats to Kath for being in your house!

Weird you guys are saying the police certificate looks lame, I thought mine looked pretty cool with all those different security features. Mine was from Sydney. Maybe they've changed it. Make sure your certificate says "name and fingerprints" not just "name". I know the name only one is a lot less impressive than the fingerprint one.

Good to hear jezz! I assume Vy's will be the same as the one you got from Sydney. I'll make sure she confirms it's the correct Name and Fingerprint check (does it say on the certificate?). Did you bring yours with you to the interview or mail it in ahead of time?

Kath, congrats on the move!

Good Luck Kelli! No pressure. If you fail, just do it again. :-)

Security... features?

I just got a blue piece of paper saying "Police Certificate issued by Queensland Police Service. This is to certify blahdeblahdeblah'. Says it checked my name and fingerprints, and has my date of birth there too.. all in Lucinda Calligraphy font :\

It at least has an actual signiture though, not a photocopy, and came in a qld government envelope...

Niphredil, just wait and see from the Consulate on what they say. They may have seen plenty of QLD certificates in the past and it might simply be formatted that way. I am curious as to how the NSW certificate looks like though.

Okay, this is a little blurry (sorry) but this is what it looks like... you miss out on the detail unfortunately, I guess they do that on purpose. The blue box at the bottom tells you about the security features...

It says...

SECURITY WARNING

This document contains several inbuilt security features, some of which are listed below. Please refer to the reverse for a dull description of the security featres. The pink "Eagle" image on the left and right are printed in a heat sensitive ink and will disappear if moderate heat or friction is applied. The border around this Security Warning is printed in MICROTYPE which reads NSW POLICE CRIMINAL RECORDS SECTION when viewed under magnification. The document background has a pattern of fine wavy lines and a gradual colour change from blue to pink to blue."

On the back it does indeed go into more detail, apparently there are seven eagle images printed in invisible fluorescent ink which glow under ultra violet light.... It goes on and on... it's the most well fraud protected document I've ever had, maybe even more so than money? Anyway, thats my certificate that I got in the mail and took with me to my K-1 interview.

Notice that it reads "name and/or fingerprints of..."

Hope this helps.

I DO see what you mean about the high school certificate thing :D I'm glad the same wording made you happy. Definitely a national police certificate! :) I bet you're excited about the interview!

Kinda :P My priority atm is the medical @.@ Not a fan of doctors :P I also don't have an interview date yet, as I was waiting on the consulate to give me notice as to what to do about my police certificate. I think I might wait till Friday, or Monday when I'm at the medical before I send it in... perhaps... @.@ too. much. waiting.

I forgot to update you guys...

I got a letter to say that my case has been transferred to the California Service Centre. Now... best I can understand from reading this forum is it is both good and bad. On the one hand, most people transferred to the CSC are approved without having to go to an interview. BUT the big down side is there is a long waiting period of indeterminent length for the people transferred to the CSC. I will investigate this further however.

In the meantime, anyone get transferred to the CSC?
