hi ya all

well went for my driving test yesterday..i failed...in ohio you have to a maneuverability test which i had really no clue on how to do .. i didnt take the damm instructions with me on the day how to do it and i didnt know what was expected of me...

in this first test you have to go through some poles then turn either right or left then back into the pole thing again ..i thought you just had to back into the 4 pole area again and stop he said why did i stop i said this is all new to me and i havent done one of these before then he said back out of it so i started to and wham i hit the back left pole automatic failure...my heart sank...before we went in i said to robbie im not worried about the driving its the first test im worried about...so my heart sank..felt so stupid and its taken me this long to get over it..and i cant go for the test again for another 7 days..on the up side i got the road test scoring sheet lol.. tells you all that they look for while testing you and on the back it shows how they expect you to turn corners ...so if anyone want to look at it give me a yell and i will email it to you...

hi ya kym

with my AOS and EAD i got transferred to CSC (california) i got my greencard within think it was 36days then 7 weeks after that i received my EAD...why dont you take a look at the timelines for your EAD and your local office to see how they are going at the moment might give you an idea..

hi pris

good to hear you sold your car...and yes now it is seeming real huh.. my reality check was when robbie arrived in oz to come get me..and packing with him..and going to lunch with my family the day before...

hi jess

think it was you who asked me about robert being in the navy..this was in his younger days when he was in his early teen to early 20's...he was in the veitnam war so now ya know how long ago it was lol..i think he joined when he was 16..he even went to work in washington for a stint..he dont like to talk about it much the wounds are still there in his heart if ya get what i mean..i remember on my second visit here we went to see the memorial wall that travels around the country...big slabs of black marble with names that fell in vietnam..he had to walk away it upset him so much was the first time i saw him cry..which made me cry cos all i could do was hold him and not take his pain away for him...

well thats enough from me..no need to be sorry about the licence thing i got another shot at it and we went and watched others do that test at a different location so now i know what is expected of me..and you prob thinking why we didnt do that in the first place... it is hard when your hubby is a 2nd shifter and he needs his sleep...robbie watched the whole thing and said to me i hardly touched the pole it just fell on ya thats all..

take care

kath

give me a parrell park anyday and i would of passed it.. i have looked in other state dmv's handbook and i cant find who else does the maneuverability test lol...damm ohio lol

kath you'll get your license!!! you'll pass....!! have faith..

question..

can anyone point in the direction of where it tells you how much luggage you can take on the plane with you when you leave? i'm mostly referring to luggage that is stored under the plane - not the one you take onboard with you.................

i think the flight centre told me 2 x 23kgs (2 luggages)...... plus my carry on..........

Posted

May wanna try with the actual airline site you're using.

Generally it's something like that. There's carryon + a purse/notebook bag too. Domestics are a pain since they're usually only about 1 bag.

Who are you flying with?

The Beginning

September 29th, 1999 - 'hooked' up with Dave after chatting with him for about a year online.

October 23rd, 2004 - September 29th, 5 years to the day, he proposed to me =D

July 23rd, 2005 - Dave comes over for the wedding on July 27th at the beach :)

Sometime in December, he sends off I-130 to Texas and promptly leaves me in the dark like a mushroom x.X...

The Saga Continues *dumdeduuummm*

August - phone NVC. intriguing :\ Phoned again, ah hah! the truth... no record of us >< losers... Go and visit Dave for 3 months...

End of January, we sent the petition back in again. 2 weeks later, we actually get a number in our hot little hands.

April 5th - NOA2 approved!

April sometime, received and sent back Choice of Agent

May 18th - Received IV Bill

May 28th - Sent IV Bill MO back

June 11th - DS-230 generated

July 12th - Received and sent back DS-230 packet

July 19th - NVC Sent Husband checklist of AoS. They forgot to fill in N/A fills with.... N/A x.X

July 23rd - DS-230 entered

July 26th - NVC received checklist regarding financial suppliment (ie, got a talking to on the phone :P)

August 1st - sent financial papers back

August 3rd - (Automatic msg) Financial records lacking! ARGH!~

August 7th - Received actual fixed paperwork - 'processing'

August 17th - NVC COMPLETED CASE!~

When I came in July I flew Air New Zealand. I love it and highly recommend it. It changed in Auckland but for only 2 hours extra I saved $600 extra that Qantas was asking for the direct flight. Both times I've flown with Air NZ I've had an empty seat next to me too. Wee! bliss.

2 bags, each 23kg is the norm for international. 32kg is the absolute max with air New Zealand and if you go over the 23 but stay under the 32 they charge a flat rate fee of $50 for the extra weight according to the website. They won't take it if its over 32kg though. Having said that, my bags were over the 23kg and when I pulled out the $50 to pay the lady said "huh?" and just put my bags through. 30kg and 31kg each. Wee!

I now have an Australian $50 burning a hole in my wallet.

Oh, I bought the Air NZ ticket online at their Australian website. Also, carry on luggage you can have one bag that fits the dimensions plus a thin laptop bag doesn't count as your one bag, nor does a purse or similar.

Oh sorry about that Kath! If it makes you feel better I failed my driving test here the first time! I got rid of my old fuddy duddy friend of the family driving instructor, got myself another younger one and a new car and passed with flying colours..

You guys are making me nervous, I have my driving test looming in my not too distant future.

Good luck for your second try Kath! You'll be able to do it now you know what to expect. I can't seem to find any specifics about what they ask of you in the MD practical driving test. Where's the 3 point turn? Where's the hill start and by gosh, where IS the parallel park?

for Qantas :)

I've heard if flying domestic, just explain you got off/onto an international flight, and they may waive the costs, but I think it's to their discretion...
