hi sharyna

i was under the impression that the visa you receive was valid for 6months to activate.....i know you have to write in for an extension if your pettion has expired on your original NOA2 .. because my hubby had to request an extension..some consulates extend it automatically...but its best to request the extension..

interesting to find out from the consulate if this is the case for all k1 visa's sharyna...also with the K1 interview its in the guides to do another intent letter from each party..

take care

Kath,..

I was under the same impression,..

because I had custody issues, i couldnt have my interview when planned,..So I rang the consulate, and they extended the Petition time(window), not the actual visa. They didnt need the letter at the time, but requested it at interview, so they knew my fiances intentions were still there, as things can change, as we all know. The letter of intent is required to let them know that your fiance still wants to get married. It doesnt extend the actual visa...I would double check on that Sharyna.

Sharyna,

That is FANTASTIC news! CONGRATULATIONS!!! I'm really happy for you. Have you set your wedding date yet? Just curious when your 'big day' is going to be.

kym your fiance is up next isnt he??? good luck to you for monday..

as for the driving over here...depends on which state you are in...some states ya dont have to have your international licence and i think i did read in CA it wasnt recognised...with mine i had to do the written test and then drive on my australian for 30 days and they were allowing me to go over my 30 days to go for my test ..which is next tuesday..even give them a ring because in some of the dmv.gov pages its hard to find out the precise information for non u.s. citz...but most need to see a ssn card some kind of id to proove you live here or the greencard..in ca you can produce the I-94 an approved notice for the greencard or the greencard itself..

in ohio they changed the law back in 2006 that they need to see something from uscis that verifies your a permanent resident..this also went for a state id..had a hell of a time getting that...

take care

YEP! This Monday (I will know by Sunday night with our time difference). I'm so excited....I've only been waiting 408 days for this day to get here (since the day we filed our [first] I-129F petition) lol !!! If everything goes well with his interview (fingers crossed, toes crossed, ears crossed, eyes crossed...you get the idea), he will be flying over the end part of August and we will marry on October 6!!!

As for the driver's license thing....I got up at 4 am this morning for no apparent reason. So since I have a little time this morning, I'm heading there now to read up on Missouri's laws regarding international license! After I read Sharyna's consulate review, that is!

Thanks everyone for all the driver license info...it's been a big help!!!! I've been so busy lately and just haven't had the time to read up on things as I have wanted to.

:dance:CONGRATULATIONS SHARYNA!

I'm so happy for you!

Congrats to you too Jodee! HOORAY for R & R!

Things are going GREAT here! It's finally settling down now that we're back home from visiting more relatives in Tennessee the last few days (arrived home last night). Tony is back at work on Thursday and today he's out on business. The trip to Tennessee was great and I love his whole family to pieces. In fact, I will miss them! Driving through Virginia I saw a townhouse with a big Australian Flag flying alongside a big American flag. It was awesome!

Lots of love to everyone!

:dance::dance: CONGRATULATIONS SHARYNA AND JODEE!!!!:dance::dance:

I am sorry i have no been around much, but I have been working and all of my free time is spent with a sexy Australian man who has taken me to an odd place called "happiness". Anyway it is great to be able to post a hello to all of you and to let you know how things are going.

Loke and I got the I-693 medical done and he only had to have the TB Skin test and a regular exam and it was not so bad. We are sending the results in along with the original medical exam with the AOS. I am mailing that on my lunch break tomorrow (Priority Overnight Mail) so I hope we beat the rate increase. I think that it just has to be postmarked by the 31st.

Anyway wish us luck and we will be starting a new timeline now

*hugs*
