Anyone can msn message me at thankeru4peace@hotmail.com

and on yahoo I am ringsfan1

I would be glad to help you with your resume. Just let me know what you have or I can send you a dummy copy of one that you can use as a guide for yours. Resumes that are too long can be a headache to anyone who is looking through a huge pile of them so you want it to be clear, one page long only and without any crazy hard to read fonts. Most employers do not have time to sit and try to read through a whole bunch of stuff and that is why they are looking for help (because they don't have time) so if you make it simple, clear, easy to read and refrain from being long and repetitive with it, then it will probably get a lot more attention. Most people think details are more important than clarity, but when I am looking to hire someone, I am not in the mood to sit and pour through resumes that tell me nothing but the basics. This is probably how many employers feel. Your basic structure of your resume should be as follows:

Heading centered (Name, Address, Phone Number, etc...)

Occupation: (position applying for and/or current occupation)

Past Employers: (last employer first and no more than 3 others max, give them a rough job description, name of company, address and phone number and length you were employed there- you can also attach letters of recommendation from these employers if you can obtain them which would be a good thing)

Education: (High School or college education, school name, address and phone number. You will want to list your major if you have one. If you never graduated, then simply list the last year completed in school - most people do not care too much about education as long as you are honest about it and you seem smart enough to handle the job you are applying for)

Personal and/or Professional References: (names and phone numbers of anyon willing to recommend you. You want to refrain from adding family because that is bad form)

You want to keep this entire thing at one page, so when you are done writing it, then take a look at it and decide what you can live without them knowing. Choose what is most important to them (the employer) and take out anything that has been said before but in different words. If it is still too long, then change your font size to no less than 10. if you can get references from your past employers then attach those only as additional pages. If you scan in your resume in order to e-mail it, scan those in with it as one document so that the employer does not have to open more than one page in an e-mail. let me know how else I can help you!

got it rings.. thankyou!!

I would just read very carefully and follow the instructions to a tee. I wish I was more help with this, but I can't see what you are looking at. Hammy or Moonie probably could tell you better because they have done that part. David will have all his documents including the medical and the police clearance and everything by the time our packet 3 comes because we are nutcases lol

Well, I booked my ticket yesterday! I am arriving in the states on the 11th of August

Hi Tritessa, Congrats on booking your tickets :D It's totally normal to feel the way you do....it's like being on an emotional roller coaster as you get closer to leaving home, it's an intense time so much to plan and saying goodbye to friends and family. I remember just getting tears sometimes out of the blue before I left...it's a big exciting, scarey move to make but once you get here and you are reunited it's worth it all. I still get homesick now but it's not as bad. Hang in there and go easy on yourself. (F)

Hey Rings, that was a good idea to post the resume template. I found that the format for resumes is a bit different in the USA and it took me a while to find this out. A lot of people will benefit from this info.

Well we finally got our AOS and EAD forms done...mailing them off this morning..Yay!!!! I can understand why people ask so many questions about them...it's quite complex. It took me 8hrs in total to put it all together with evidence...yuck! We also bought a second car on Friday (Subaru Legacy) so I can drive to work cause Jake and I work at opposite ends of the city and public transport is pretty crappy here. I needed to establish credit so the car is in joint names. Getting nervous now about the first day tomorrow, but I am sure it will be fine.

Forgot to say...Yesterday I scared the pants off myself and Jake, I turned left on the wrong side of the road YIKES!!....be careful folks it's easy to do when you've been driving on the left side for 20years. Thank god it was a fairly quiet road near the mall although that didn't stop someone yelling out at me "your on the wrong side D*ckhead"...very embarrassing! Nuff said lesson learnt!!!
