Congrats on your job KATH :dance: Are you going to check on the office job also? Working in retail is hard not the work but just dealing with people.

I can't believe Kevin will be here in a little over a week! It is so weird to be focused on the waiting and then have to direct your emotions elsewhere. I can't believe he will be with me all the time and we will never have to leave each other.

2007 is turning about to be very good so far.

Congrats Kath on your job, and good luck Hammy with your application. I'm happy for you guys that things are falling into place for you. And congratulations Moonie in anticipation of beginning your life together with your love. I'm sure it will be wonderful after this difficult wait.

Got my fingerprints done today for my police check. I got halfway in on the train and began worrying because I had left my passport and birth certificate on the desk at home, but all they wanted to see was my drivers licence so that was a relief. I was also expecting to walk away with ink all over my hands but they have a funky machine that takes all the prints digitally so it was a clean and painless process. One more thing organised and in a couple of weeks the results will come and it will be out of the way. Next week is blood test reults week...

Congrats Tristessa on getting you Visa!

Congrats Kath on your new job!

Thanks for posting the info on the fees Kath. Tony and I are cutting it fine but I think we'll get our application in before the 30th of July. I'm getting over there on the 12th of July and we'll most likely get married on the 14th or 15th in LA. Now because of the fee hike we're going to post it express post the next day so we don't have to worry. I don't mind too much but its annoying having that added stress. I can't believe how MUCH they're putting up the fees!

Kath, as far as fee scedule goes is it the following only now:

-AOS + biometrics

-Removal of Conditions

-Citizenship OR renewal of greencard?

I kicked up a bit of a fuss over the fee hikes, it doesn't seem fair. I guess you have to pay if you want to stay.

:)

Hope everyone is having a lovely day!

hi jezz

thanks for the congrats...

yeah thats the sequence ...i too had me rant about the fee hike...just incredible

AOS and biometric fees..

EAD if you want to apply for that

Travel approval also if u want to apply for that

then removal of conditions (2years, well under)

then when you get your 10 year greencard

you apply for citzenship or renewal of greencard on the 10th year ..

what annoys me with all this is...

you apply for removal and they give you a 10 year greencard...majority of people that i have seen apply after 3 years of marriage and residency for their naturalization.. so the government is winning 7 years of fees you paid for..(did i say that right)...

why the hell they dont just give you a 5 year greencard on removing conditions and at that end of 5 years you have the choice to either renew or go for citzenship...

just annoying.. i feel for the ones coming over now .. or the ones who havent started their journey yet...what a strain on the pockets of many couples...

ok end of rant

kath

ps. thanks tris.. ohh you got heaps of time ...start saving now for the AOS mate...

Hey girlfrmoz :) I have a question for you...

Did you wait until after you got married to go get your SSN?

On the flowchart on this site it shows going to get SSN, then getting married then going back to SS office to get name changed. It didn't make sense to me, why can't you wait till after you get married?

Also, do you have to go to the SS agency nearest your residence because we're thinking about going to one in CA.

Thanks!

Hiya Kath,

Greencard  umm well I came over on a CR1 VISA..

and the expiry date that was stamped on my CR1 VISA IN MY PASSPORT WAS,

MAY 9TH 2009.. I HAVEN'T GOT A GREEN CARD AS SUCH I THINK

I JUST HAVE TO CARRY MY PASSPORT WITH THE CR1 VISA STAMPED WITH

EXPIRY DATE OF MAY 9TH 2009 AND 90 DAYS BEFORE I HAVE TO DO A A.O.S?

OTHERWISE IT SAYS I WILL BE DEPORTED :help:

SO WHERE IN THAT LIST OF NEW FEES WILL THAt APPLY FOR AOS FOR ME IN 2009?

Kell Congratulations on your Approval well done

Hope everyone is well and feeling the luuuuuuurrrrve (L)

Cheers

Paul

Hey Jezz,

I will check my timeline maybe it's entered wrong....I waited and applied for my SSN straight after getting married because I didn't want to go through the pain of changing my name. I hyphenated my surname and added Jake's last name to mine so it was better to wait plus we needed to SSN with my new surname for me to get my Army spouse ID and medical insurance set up. The SSN card is handy for lots of things like setting up your bank account.

I went to my local office in Colorado Springs...i think you can just go to the nearest one to you, don't think it matters if you live there or not cause it's a straight forward process, I just needed my passport and Visa number, they send the card out to your residential address anyway.

Hope the helps....let me know if you have anymore questions.

Cheers

Lyndel
