Paul,

I am so sorry about Lakota. I know how hard it is to lose a lifelong friend. (hugs).

I hope your countdown to your trip isn't too long!!

So happy for both you and TAMZO!! Two more Aussies in America! We can use all that we can get.

No real news here - as per usual - Stewart says he's making Chocolate Ripple cake FINALLY this weekend. I am looking forward to it. Essendon was having a good go for a while there, but I think they've now lost...

and Cricket is going REALLY well!! not much left in our way!

Hope all are well!

XOXOXOXO

Caroline

hi jess

you wont get into trouble at your POE if you put a different date than you arrived...

just put july 2007 .. its only an estimate to when you think you will be leaving australia

as for the photo's put them on the front of the form what does your intstructions say to do..i cant remember if i cut them up or not...maybe tamzo knows or hammy they were the current interviwee's

you do know that they are suppose to be U.S. sizes for the passport photo's..just checking...

hi ya caroline

by lost do you mean they are finding it hard to finish the game ...im a essendon fan caroline and i think i understand what ya mean but ya gotta also remember its the start of the season..i rang my mum last week and we got on to the footy and she was watching it ..she reckons they dont seem to have the knack of finishing..they get way ahead of the team then slack off ..they have had this problem for quite some time.. but im hoping it only being the 4 round and they did have a good start to the season that they will do better as the season goes along...

this year will be the first time i havent been to anzac match with my worker mates...and they were going to get damm corporate box this year sniff sniff lol..never mind i got some good memories and photo's..

they play st kilda in about 6 hours or so.....so see how we go will be on the www.afl.com.au might even listen to it online today...

tke care

Hampster- Im so sorry to hear about your dog. You had me crying, i really feel for you.

I had a dog called Angus a German Shepherd/Keshund cross, named after the AC/ DC legend,....he was 12 when I moved to the USA. My ex-husband said he would look after him for me when I left, as he was originally a wedding present from him to me, the many years ago it was. And even though him and I were no longer, he was still a special part of our lives. About 12 months after i left, the ex rang me crying one day, and I thought it was about our daughters, becasue they also stayed with him for a while, while I got settled in to my new life. NO, it was Angus,..he had been diagnosed with a huge tummy tumour, was the size of a Rockmelon apparently. he had to be put down, and we cried on the phone together. Even though the ex and I were no longer, and MUCH happier that way, Angus was an important part of our lives, and the last remaining 'us' factor, the link between me and him, apart from our daughters.

We cried, we laughed about moments with shared with Angus, and then we said Goodbye. damn, i cry when I think about my puppy.

Hugs,...

I wanted to put just JULY 2007 but it wouldn't let me! It made me put a day as well, so I put the 31st ... now I'm thinking I might be leaving closer to the 11-16th (Did you know Kath that they're getting you to fill that form out online and print it off now? I think it might be new since you did yours)

It says "stick or staple photos here" in the big box on the form... but I haven't heard anyone else mention that they actually did. I'll see if anyone else has an answer for me on that one.

you do know that they are suppose to be U.S. sizes for the passport photo's..just checking...

I sure do :D

jess...i remember that form i stuck it in just in case my stapler didnt work for me..lol..

I stapled them down... maybe I have to do the forms again though since I didn't type in NONE for the ones that don't apply, i just left them blank. Do you think they'll care? Do you think they'll hit me with a ruler? I really want the Americans to like me. :D Are they the photos they use for your visa, or do you have to bring them two more?

Edit for typo... for great honour.

Thanks for the advice Kath, I will do it again... although, I don't want to, since pulling the photos off and reattaching them to a new sheet is going to look like ... Wish I could just write it in there but no, I'll print it all off again.Soon. With plenty of "none"s in there.

To all that posted condolences for my Lakota thankyou thankyou all very much.

I do appreciate the warm caring thoughts within all the condolences.

Now Wednesday25th April is Anzac Day...

ANZAC Day - 25 April -

Marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War.

ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.

The soldiers in those forces quickly became known as ANZACs,

and the pride they soon took in that name endures to this day. Australians recognise 25 April as an occasion of national commemoration.

Here's a traditional recipe you can try:

Easy ANZAC Biscuits

1 cup rolled oats

1 cup plain flour

1 cup sugar

3/4 (three-quarters) cup coconut

125g (4 oz) butter

2 tablespoons golden syrup

½ (half) teaspoon bicarbonate of soda

1 tablespoon boiling water

Combine oats, sifted flour, sugar and coconut.

Combine butter and golden syrup, stir over gentle heat until melted.

Mix soda with boiling water, add to melted butter mixture, stir into dry ingredients.

Take teaspoonfuls of mixture and place on lightly greased oven trays; allow room for spreading.

Cook in slow oven (150°C or 300°F) for 20 minutes.

Loosen while still warm, then cool on trays.

Makes about 35.

(F) LESS WE FORGET (F)

Cheers

Welcome to the forum David! I have a David in Melbourne too! You will find that the Aussie American couples are simply the best! Good luck in your journey here! I know that you will find so much valuable information.

Hammy thanks for the recipe. When david comes home, I am throwing a party and I need some really tradionally Aussie food dishes. I want it to be easy because quite frankly I am not a cook :P

Any help is greatly appreciated!

*hugs to you all*
