Thanks for that guys.

I was going to go do the Police Certificate thing today, but held off as I was unsure. Tomorrow it is, by the looks. Going to the doctors as well tomorrow, my daughter is way impressed, she will prolly need to have the hep b shot. :crying: Ah well pain loves company, may as well got the whole hog and get that bloodtest done as well. I don't think you can book the medical in Brissie before you have some kind of documentation from the consulate, well that is my understanding from their website (doctors). These guys seem to charge a lot more than in the other cities($242 each + $90 for xrays and $88 for blood tests for me), guess that is what happens when you have a monopoly.

I am doing a spot of house cleaning at the moment, as a temp job, before I move over to the states and luckily one of my customer's husband is a lawyer (QC in fact) hehehe what a find. He has done up a proforma affidavit for my ex to sign with regards to my daughter's custody and living in The States, didn't cost a penny, all I have to do is fill in the blanks and I am set, making quite a few copies of that one. ;)

Oh yeah and I remember, we weren't sure if it was supposed to be the I864 or the I134 that we needed, on the consulate site it says I864, but I have seen the I134 referred to on here, so that is still a grey area. Mike is going to fill out both and send them over to me with all the documentation needed for either so that I can use whichever they require. Such a smart fella he is.

hey kaffykat you could always ring the clinic that does the medicals and try for an appointment.. they may ask, like they did for me in sydney and i replied that i didnt have my noa2 yet and it was no big deal... i had the medical forms already though, from 2 years before when i started the process and sydney wasn't afraid to issue the entire package when you made an enquiry...

pretty sure its the I134 you need for the interview and the I864 for AOS... again not sure but i'd imagine you'd get the same instructions from sydney that i did...

good luck with it all...

Well I went and put the application in for the Police Certificate today. Also found out I needed to get a full birth certificate for my other daughter who lives with her father, even though she isn't coming with us or following in the 12 months after. So mailed off for that as well today. I should get them both back around the same time.

It felt soooo good to be actually 'doing' something. I then came home and cleaned my entire house, haven't stopped since. Gone into overdrive, which is really what I needed, the last few weeks I lost all motivation to do anything.

Mike is busy dotting his i's and crossing his t's, with his end of the paperwork. That'll prolly arrive around the same time as the other stuff as well.

As for the medical, I haven't had a chance yet to ring them as yet, heard the receptionist there isn't a real nice person and not very helpful, refers ppl to the website mostly, which states you need some letter of authority from the consulate for them to rip you off on the medicals. But if I can make the appointment for in a few weeks, once I get a chance to ring, I 'should' have the packet 3 here by then.

14 weeks today, hopefully, til we touch again, for the rest of our lives.

All 3 of the women in the medical office in Brisbane are nasty creatures. Shockingingly rude to both my husband and I. You would think for how much they charge you, they'd be a bit nicer. Anyway, in order to have my husband's medical done, we had to bring in the actual packet of medical forms from the consulate.

Ugh, good luck dealing with those beasts. On the bright side, at least the staff at the actual consulate is more cheerful.

That's terrible. I mean you're already anxious about the whole process - and nasty people just exacerbate the problem :(

Stewart said that the people in Melbourne were very nice. They almost messed up and DIDN't give him his chest x-ray -but thanks to VJ we are both super prepared so he knew to go get it!

Funny story about the Xray thing. We are sitting in the consulate, waiting to go up and I turn to Scott and say .... "We forgot the Xray". It was under his bed in Adelaide. Good thing you dont need it for anything, we would have been screwed!!! lol Its on its way to us in the mail at the moment!!

Well here I am venting. The USCIS has updated on the 22nd but the Nebrasca date is still the same; 7th Dec. :o:crying: but then I did check out the old Aussy thread & yes some great info there but especially a link for Aussy goodies but very exciting for me was the tomato sauce. :P I have coeliac disease and couldn't find a tomato sauce in the shops where I was I could eat & the healthfood shop ones were ghastly. A life without good old Aussy tomato sauce was starting to look a bit grim. OK I'm coming now!!! I think we should add tomato sauce & vegemite to our Aussy Emblam.

I so appreciate this site, makes the wait so less lonely. (F)

Evening, morning, afternoon... :P

Augh all the women are nasty at the doctors?? Sheesh, maybe I will slip em some rescue remedy when I go up, or slap em. hehehe Ah well will wait on the medicals stuff. Is there any other doctors that do the medical besides that Wickam Terrace Crew?? Oh and Kath I found a vaccination list thingy in one of my searches, came in handy, looks like I may as well get the MMR, Tetanus & Varicella and my daughter the Hep B and Varicella, even though she had chicken pox when she was young, just don't want any hassles when tackling the AOS. Just a little pain to save a big pain later. ;)

You are right Kath, the products are different, couldn't whip the cream like the stuff we have here either when I was over there, and finding pastry of any type pre-made was like a miracle. I made Mike a whole heap of meat pies, I ended up making my own pastry for the second and third batches. Hehehe I made him like two dozen or so, he kinda liked them. He still has one in his freezer and doesn't want to eat it, cause I made it. Had his parents and kids around for dinner a couple of times as well, first time they had ever had rinky dink aussie meat pies and of course had to go the Silverside with the cream baked potatoes.

Going to make some smaller ones in patty cake pans for at the wedding, gotta have some aussie food there. Making lamingtons and pavlova as well, wish they had cherrios over there, and not the breakfast cereal type the little sausages type.

Anyways I have made myself hungry now, off to dinner....

GGRRRR that's what I meant, anzac square, that's where the b*iatches are. And Cairns, well that is 2000km up north, I am in Brissie. That explains why they are so expensive then, like I said, a monopoly. :help:

Guess I gotta grina and bear it. But I do sarcasm so well, they may be nasty and dopey. hehehehe ;)

Kath.....did you check out Matts link he posted a couple of weeks ago...some great info there.....I particularly liked the recipe section as they are conversions of aussie recipes using US products. Check it out everyone if you havent already.

Think I just might get myself a pie maker too before I leave. Any other suggestions on items that may come in handy??
