Katz, whatever you do, don't wait 7 months before finally ringing them and finding out what the deal is x.X

and what is it with different police check prices? Being a National check, you'd think they'd be all the same price x.X oh well :\

I can still kick Beattie's butt though right? :P

I just wanted to drop In and say hi to everybody,..

I'm glad things have been going well for the most of you,..Glad to see so many of us Aussies have made that trek over the pond,...

I guess in a month or two I can start posting some more info of my own. As I will be starting my daughters I130's from Germany to the States. we were lucky in that when they came over here to live with me in Germany, they didnt need visas, as they were sponsored by the US Military to live here on base. AN upside to it, is I have completed my journey pretty much,.and technically as of July 26, I could apply for Naturalization. I intend to do that as soon as I get stateside actually, then my girls wont have to go through lifting of Conditions,..as they will automatically acquire Citizenship under me,..something for nothing from the USCIS,,.wooo hooo. I guess though I will have to fork out for the Certificates,..but thats all good!!

Cheers,..

hi

Thanks for the reply, ur right i will have to start saving! another two quick questions

1. Is the police check australia wide? or do u have to get seperate ones for each place i have lived in? I have only lived in places in NSW since i was 16?

2. The medical? what is the aim of it? what was it like? the reason i ask is i have pre-exsisting illness...its nothing major but i am abit worried they will deny me because of it.

Thank you very much...this forum is a life saver when i'm spending long days and night away from the love of my life.. but good news for me is i'm heading to the states on August the 1st...just have to get through US immigration that is!!

Cheers

1. The police check is National, so you don't have to worry about getting separate ones for each place you lived in, as long as all those places are within Australia. If you have lived overseas they start asking for separate reports but that doesn't look like it affects you.

2. There seems to be a few different reasons behind the medical. Blood tests in my case determined that I didn't have HIV or syphillis, although I have heard that a doctor can order other tests if he has concerns about them (ie drug tests etc). Chest X-Ray is a tuberculosis screen. You get poked and prodded to make sure you don't have unusual lumps anywhere and weighed and measured (I guess to see if you fit into normal 'weiight-for-height' parameters. I had my hearing and vision tested and my reactions (first time I ever got hit with one of those little hammers YAY). Also blood pressure was taken, and you are asked a series of questions that seem to mostly fall into 2 categories. One is behaviour (eg drug and alcohol use) and the other is personal and family medical history.

I've seen it written in a few places that pre-existing conditions are not an automatic cue to be denied, and especially if it is minor it is not necessarily a reason to worry. I would recommend you have a read of this thread:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=medical

Sharyna - good luck! Hope it all goes smoothly for you.

Good luck Katz, I'm in agreement that you should just try to get whatever you can as soon as you can. The only thing you can't really do before you get your packet 3 from the Sydney Consulate is the medical, as you need to present documents from that packet to your examining doctor, but if you know tghe packet is coming you can book the medical before you receive the packet, as long as you are confident it will arrive before your appointment date.

Jodee, hope everything goes smoothly when you get back to the States for your naturalisation process.

Niph - you're asking permission to kick a politician's butt? I thought that was just a natural born right of every Aussie...

Hope everyone else is doing well and flying through whatever you need to be doing (as much as the term 'flying' can apply to a process that sometimes feels more like a stopping-all-stations ride from here to forever). When's your new driving test date Kath? Do I need to steer clear of the roads in Colorado anytime soon? I know its a long way from you, but I don't know how your driving is either lol

GOOD LUCK SHARYNA!!!

With our time differences, you are sound asleep right now. So by the time you get to read this, you will have already been for your interview and I'm sure very excited over your approval. I can't wait to read all about it.

Darryl's interview is this coming Monday. Everytime I come here and read posts I go back to him with a thousand questions...do you have this, do you have that, how many of this do you have, what size, is it in the right order...etc, etc. He is a very organized person and I know he is prepared. He seems to be cool as a cucumber...I figured it was just the Aussie in him...lol. Good to see that other Aussies get just as nervous as this American girl sitting on the other side of the world...waiting!

hi kym

I dont think your alone with the nerves about an interview...you have done you part in the journey now its all up to the aussie and with it being out of your hands it can be a bit nerve racking thinking .. have they got it together ..lol

i just want to reiterate to those that have gone for or going for their medicals plz ask for a copy of the medical for your own records .. the vaccination sheet is needed for the AOS for K1 and K3 journey's...also remember you can get blood tests done by your local doctor to determine what you are ammune to and put on medicare..but make sure you have a letter from the doctor stating the results to take to the medical...i have read quite a few aussie posts where they didnt get a copy and have to either get it done again over here or ring oz to get a copy sent over...

good luck meowgirl on getting an interview date ...

kym good luck to you and yours for your interview next week ... let us know how it goes...

loke loke loke sighhhhhhhhhh lol.. i will have you know i got my licence in 1978 in oz and i didnt have one accident or ticket lol...so your safe mate...with saying that robert always sez to me .. its not your driving im worried about its the other idiots on the road lol..so your safe mate...my test is on the 31st...went there on the weekend to have a look at the area and see what this maneuverability test is all about.. looks more confusing on the car park than in the book lol...i dont know if this thing is for every state but ohio has to do it.. they dont even do a parellel parking test..lol...

well robbie's first day back to work today...sighhhhhhh... then middle of this week am ringing k-mart to see when i am going to start work...

take care

kath

p.s. jonathon..make sure you have things like bank statements leases a letter from your employer stating what date your expected back to work...your itenary...anything that shows you have ties to australia to help at your POE on your visit to the states...which state you coming over to?

and actually read the medical form that is sent with you in your packet 3 (or whatever), there is a page that will go over what vaccinations are required for your age group...I remember someone posting in this thread (and I think it was re-posted several times) a list of 'necessary' vaccinations which was not true, it all depends on your age, it is listed in your medical form, so read it....and funnily enough when I got in to have my doctors appointment, he was asking if the consulate was sending out a long list of required vaccinations for immigrants because of late he'd had a lot of people coming in who'd had many many vaccinations, a lot of whihc were unnecessary...so remember, don't turn your arm into a pincushion unnecessarily!

ha @ weighed and measured, I just got asked what my height and weight was and that was that...my answers must have seemed reasonable...I had an eye test but no hearing test (tho he had a look around in them) and yeah, I'd been been tapped with those hammers before but it still makes me giggle lol..

you are asked questions but it isn't really serious (I mean it is serious but it's not interrogative), it's a pretty casual atmosphere, there is no 'good doctor bad doctor' roleplaying going on about the questions, just reading them out as he/she fills them in...apart from the time he pretended to find something peculiar on the boys and freak the hell out of me it was a really stress free appointment

you are so right...with my age i didnt have to have any jabs thank goodness...that the key thing in this whole process of paperwork is read .. read... read...i think the guys at the consulate delight in saying you havent got this in order or you dont have this come back when u do have it lol

but on the up side to those who are going through it all at the moment.. once you get here then get your AOS all over and done with for 2 years .. you seem for forget all the hassle it was going through it.. unless you have had such a bad time of it .. i was talking to another aussie in kentucky today and she had a hard time of it with her AOS but her patience and just living life with her husband got her through it and she was saying the same thing to me..

so on the up side of all this ..there is a silver lining... at least AOS is when your here and you have the support of your husband/wife to get you through it...

take care
