Waiting for an Interview Date to Open Up?

I was told by the DOS today that London is "waiting for an interview date to open up". What does this mean? Do they not just schedule the next available date?

I believe that they schedule only so many weeks out. What that may mean is that all the interview appointments through a certain date are full (Sept 30, for example), and they don't start scheduling people for October interviews until, say, the first week in September. I don't think they schedule too far out and that they keep people on a waiting list until the "start date" for the next block of dates. Then, once that date arrives, (let's say Sept 1) then on that day they schedule the entire list of people waiting, and continue to fill up the month of October until it's full.

Those dates are just examples, maybe they do it in two week blocks, or one week blocks, or so forth. I don't know exactly, but from what others have said, they don't schedule interviews too far out.

To give you a rough idea, I've never seen an instance when someone was notified about an interview that was still two months away. I've only ever seen a notification was was a month or less away from the actual interview. From what I can gleen, Your fiance (and mine, at this point) will likely get an interview in either late September or early October.

Well, we put on our forms that he wanted to travel around Oct 11th, and Jill said that they waited to schedule her interview until closer to his travel time. (She called the embassy to ask when they'd logged her forms but hadn't scheduled an interview a month later). But late Sept or early Oct would still be fine. Honestly, so long as he's here before Thanksgiving with my family I'll be happy. We've waited this long.

Well, regardless, it looks like both of our fiances will be in the US by year's end, so that has to be a good thing!

It could be because I applied for a CR-1 and not a K1, but I was notified around Christmas that my interview would be two months later. Then again, it took me a month to get my case number after USCIS transferred my case to NVC, and six months after my interview and quick approval I'm still waiting for my visa to be issued as I was put in AP, so it could just be me
