I guess I wonder if each regional forum would be better off with a deputy mod that is particularly sensitive to the needs of that sub-forum. One need only look at what has been happening in the UK forum recently to see that someone more familiar with the personalities and interaction between them might have handled things more sensitively. When moderation feels more like it is coming from within rather than without, there might be less resistance to intervention. I for one would make a TERRIBLE mod, but I can think of several commonsense UK VJ people who would fit that role very nicely -- don't take sides, play nicely and have sufficient gravitas to carry it off.

Just some food for thought.

If we can staff enough people so that each forum has a "regular" as the regional mod then I am ok with it (original intent was exactly how you said). We need to recruit more folks to make this happen but could be a benefit if done right.

I came into the UK forum in response to a report I received about baiting. After reviewing the report, and conferring with other mods who wound up agreeing that it was a baiting post, I posted a warning to not bait and did not remove any posts or do anything else.

By the way, Susita, I for one appreciated this action.

What are you on about? If you understood the selection process, you would understand that there is no bias whatsoever. How about contributing to this forum, instead of complaining about it mox? I said to give him a chance because you immediately attacked him and said it was the worst decision since (name the bad historical event). I felt it was only fair before you insulted him to allow him time int he regional forums to work and get used to the role.

You're revising history again. I did give him a chance. After the initial uproar I sat back and didn't say a thing for quite some time. But nothing changed, and he continued to be rude to members, he continued to violate the TOS, and he continues to bait instead of moderate. Eventually I became more vocal about it, and still you did nothing. I had private conversations with you, and still you did nothing. And even if you don't remember that, why is it MY responsibility to give him a chance? Why can't he be an adult like (presumably) the rest of your mods and just do what's right?

You said to give him a chance, that he would eventually grow into the role, that he would grow out of his juvenile inanity into somebody who takes responsibility seriously. The chance was given, and you were wrong. So when are you going to do what you implied you would do if it didn't work out, and fire him? How long does this little experiment go on?

By the way, I wasn't the only person to "immediately attack him." His welcome thread was filled with many more than just me who challenged you on this decision.
