Additionally, there is plenty of talk in there about "jacking off" and so on. How is this any different to Maven's post that got invisibilised?

Someone earlier challenged me to make a positive suggestion. So I'll make a suggestion I've made a dozen or more times before: Either enforce the full TOS site-wide, to include OT, or get rid of OT altogether. I don't care which. But what we have right now isn't working.

I actually think that a suggestion William made earlier (in the UK forum) is promising. Enforce the TOS rigorously in the upper forums. However, in the lower forums have a very basic one in place.

Racism, bigotry, extreme personal attacks, misogyny etc should be enforced and acted upon, but for everything else? I say let 'em fight it out amongst themselves. The worst profanities are filtered, so it can't get too bad on the whole. And we're all adults at the end of the day. Those big girl panties can be quite comfortable once you get used to them.

Place a warning at the top of the lower forms, just informing members that it is of adult content and they may read things that offend. Something like that.

I guess that means the Choking the Chicken thread is a goner too. :(

He/she has also suggested I appeal to Ewok if I feel the post in question was biased.

I am happy to review any decision. The mod team will not take it personally as this is simply a check and balance and there are times where I may disagree (or vice versa) however I am the "final call". I will review however a few things to note on my not getting to this as quick as you may have liked: It was reported Sunday night for me,(admittedly) I do sleep at times and also I do have some times at which (especially on the weekends) I may not be online or able to follow up within hours (it may be 6-8 hours). That said I do get emails so please at any time use the contact form in an emergency or to ask for a review. I simply ask that you understand that I can not be everywhere all the time as I am one person and the mods (as a team) are online far more (the goal, of course to have good time zone coverage on the site for mod issues).

Again, I will read the entire thread and review the reported topic but please if you can (and your call) try to give me a little slack on the weekends and nights (remember my timezone delta) as I do try to give some time to the ole' family :).

Even though your response doesn't really surprise me much, don't you think it a silly waste of time to attack me without asking questions? Your message was pretty clear "If I don't like it - you WILL remove it, or hear me scream to eternity". Next time dial it down and just ask me, try presenting a persuasive argument instead of hysteria and attacks. And please understand, absolutely no one was responding to this with a PM. I was responding to your PM with a PM. I suggested you appeal to Ewok because that is how the system works in my understanding. You weren't really suggesting anything other than that I immediately reverse myself because you reported something and didn't like the result. You also suggested I am biased, presumably because I don't agree with you. Seriously, dialogue is better.

As Brand and Vika said, I will review decisions by the mod team at a members request and they understand this is the "process". I respect their hard work / position and simply (like in a court) there is an appeal process. The final verdict may uphold or overturn a decision but it is nothing personal. I would ask that I am given a chance to review things before topics like this are created to scold the team; however if you want to attack anyone then please attack me; the buck stops here and I prefer your attacks to be at my expense if anyones. I will attempt to resolve your concern and I will promise to give a fair look at this.

I learned a long time ago that having exclusively back channel discussions with the mod team was a waste of time. In fact, I believe you guys intend for it to be a waste of time.

You want me to appeal to Ewok? That's what this is. He doesn't answer PMs nor does the case system he set up work anymore.

I do not always reply to every email (correct) if that is what you mean. If someone asks for a review I do review things but I may not reply unless needed to ask a follow up question. I just looked at my emails and counted 93 emails in the last 24 hours (and that is on the weekend) so as much as I would like I can not reply to them all (I wish I could). As I said I do review them and once I am online take action (they go to my blackberry when I am not online). The ticket system is as much a way to be sure critical things do not go unread or closed.

I do not see any emails to me today requesting a review. I will add a "field" to the contact for specifically for this. I will also may sure my phone flags these special so I get to them as fast as possible (TOS reviews). I will make that change within the hour (going now). I appreciate the opportunity to help and as I work through this topic (half way) hopefully I can resolve this.

The ticketing system used to work. I used it a few times. But at some point he got bored with it I guess.

I altered the system where by before I had it set up that I had to reply to every ticket to close it. Quickly you can see the issue when every email takes lets say 3-5 minutes to address and then 2 minutes (if I am lucky) or more to reply. That means 100 emails a day * 2 minutes is 3 to 4 hours a day which given everything else I am working on it simply became too much. I read everything and reply as needed by I can not reply to every email (although I do read them). I can no close a ticket if action was taken but no direct reply may be sent.

I have just reviewed the Report Center - an automatic logging of all reports and all actions taken on every single report. There is NO report from you at all within the last 12 hours, nor within the last 24 hours. There is NO report of the above mentioned item. Please provide a link and we will 'address' the situation. Please note - the Report Center is a software feature over which no one of the moderation team has any control and we cannot do any sort of editing of its functions. If it has been reported, it is recorded in the Report Center.

To note, this Report Center "is" new in the last three months and I can say that ALL reported items using that system DO get looked at and closed. Nothing is left open for too long. This is separate from using the contact form (this is the little report buttons you find all over the site to report content). In the last several months the report center has gotten:

Total Reports 1481

Total Comments 1893 (meaning the mods made 1893 posts discussing things specifically about reports; they do take time and work on them). Not all tickets need replies (people request topics closed, etc.).

If you really *really* care about where I'm coming at this, then you need to go back through my posting history. I'm not trying to tell you that I have bunches of golden nuggets of wisdom, far from it. But back in the day I was also a bright eyed optimist just like you. I thought my concerns were listened to, and I thought the dialog I had with the current farm of moderators actually amounted to something. I'm sorry but I'm not going to spell it all out, but the nutshell version is that no actually, this crew doesn't give a damn about what you think or I think or anybody else.

So I'm sorry if I seem crass. This site helped me through a lot, and I had a bit more to go through than a lot of people here, although my sob story isn't near as bad as some others either. In any case, I *want* VJ to succeed. And that's why I'm so vocal. I've tried the other ways. I've tried talking it out, submitting tickets, etc etc. It doesn't work.

I will take you at your word. As a bit of advice if you are genuine.

Things that help me help you (this is in general):

Be specific

Be direct and to the point

Make well thought out statements with some backup if possible

Things that make me a bit frustrated:

Attack others to make your point

Sarcasm used to sneak "pokes"

Reporting mod decisions simply because you do not like the mod

Being rude

I do not mind if someone thinks I or the team can do better. But the best way to raise things is to be polite, illustrative and logical.
