Can we choose the Port of Entry?

I don't think they could. A requirement of the K1 is for the couple to be married in the US, and then not travel outside the US until AP or green card is recieved. I'd think as soon as the K1 were to enter any other country, they're stuck there, or would have to go back home and start over again with K3. Regardless of where they clear customs to get to the Caribbean.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!

You're right, Reba. I think we took the 'pipe dream' idea a bit too far.... :D

There are 4 in the Caribbean also.

[A lot of K1s ask about honeymooning in the Caribbean - I wonder if a K1 could clear immigration in Aruba, Bermuda, or the Bahamas and get married and have their honeymoon there before continuing on to the USA?]

Jen,

Most Canadian airports and a those couple in Ireland (may be more that I'm unaware of) are "Pre Flight Inspection" posts, meaning that the foreigners clear US Immigration at that airport, before they physically land in the US.

Uhhhhh......wouldn't this void the K-1 visa??? I wouldn't take that chance!

Since we are discussing port of entry, I have a question if anyone knows. My wife will be coming from China and I live near Seattle but most flights to China from Seattle go through Vancouver Canada. Is it possible for her to fly through Canada if her intended destination is the U.S.A.?

Thanks

desert_fox,

Not necessarily - especially coming from the UK.

Yodrak

your POE will be where the airplane first lands in the US....so you get to chose depending on which airline you use.

ok...nitpick a little. I responded as if he/she was coming directly from the UK...if he had said Ireland, I woud have answered differently.

Coming non-stop from the UK, your POE will be where the aircraft initially lands in the US....your choice is limited to which airline/flight you select.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.
