Helo Everyone,

I just signed up today for this site after reading through almost everything that concerns VAWA applications. I must confess that reading all the positive outcomes of recent VAWA applicants has given me alot of hope and renewed energy (my hands are moist just writting about it). anyway, I applied for VAWA after painfully confessing to my college Psychologist about the cruelty I was undergoing with my wife. I won't go into details as this is not really why I am here today. I was informed of this option(VAWA) and sent my petition on February 4th 2010, sometime in March I received an alert online for RFE, I sent everything that I had in my possession, copies of course, (photos, bank account statement, numerous bills, letters from friends that knew us, cards that we sent to each other, Health Insurance policies, vehicle transfer note, beneficiary note from work, police bachground checks for 2 states since I moved to another state, one police report etc..etc I just sent everything that we shared together) and on May 25th I recieved another alert that my paper work has been received and under review. Just recently on August 2nd or 4th not sure which, my status changed to RFE "Response Review". I have an approved I-130 that I had filed earleir before the VAWA. My question is, how long does it take to get a decision? I know some people stated 6-18 months while afew mantioned years..upto 4 years even!!!! How do they determine this? Can someone please offer me a word of advice/courage?

Thank you all and God Bless

For one VAWA tends to move faster/smoother for a woman filer. It is the old thought process that woman are helpless and men are not. I am not a VAWA but I can tell you that they will look at yours closely. 1 you are a man 2 you are from a high fraud country. Be patient and things will work out.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Ok, I will be patient, I never knew my country was a High "Fraud" Country, but it's nice to know that info, it helps.

Most of West Africa is but Ghana is getting higher and higher in fraud cases....

Did you come on a spousal or fiance visa originally?

I came on a H1 visa which has since expired. I agree most West african states are fradulent but that should not be the basis of their decision in /on my case. But I agree to some extent with your sentiments, "should not" and "will not", is not upto me to decide, I just have hope and faith that God will see me through.
