I have no idea why my RCMP police certificate "did not fulfill necessary requirements"

I am wondering if because you didn't get the fingerprints one if that's what they are being picky about. I think when most ppl get one done from outside of Canada they had to do the fingerprints. But you where still inside of Canada when you had yours done. Maybe calling them on Monday and asking them whether they needed to have the prints if you loved in Canada when the check was done. They may be thinking you had it done from outside the Country.

I hope that when I call on Monday, that the problem will be something as mundane as what you described - i.e., the NVC reviewer overlooking my Canadian address on the RCMP Police Certificate.

If that's the case, the reviewer must have been pretty tired or sleepy when he/she looked at my certificate. If I had been outside Canada when I applied for my RCMP police certificate, there is no way I would have been able to get the certificate from an RCMP office other than the one in Ottawa (which requires fingerprints).

RCMP in ottawa didnt require finger prints when I went. Simply took and filled out a green sheet of paper they called my number to the window they put it in a big machine which took a few minutes to spit the paper back out with printed stuff all over it. Payed a small fee and got the paper signed and stamped with a raised police seal stamp. That was it, the finger printing at the RCMP in ottawa is only for if you are going to be working with children or in social services type jobs for thuro background checks. Its a different sheet all togehter.

Just curious if this might be another possibility . . . you've requested a change of Consulate. How soon after you got the RCMP letter did you move? Could they require something that covers between the time the letter was issued and you moved and that is why they need a second police record statement?

All RCMP offices do not require fingerprints if you are physically present in Canada when you apply for your police certificate.

If you apply when you are outside Canada, then you have to submit a duplicate set of fingerprints (http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_4881.html?cid=3531).

I got mine done from outside canada, I got the finger print rcmp check and they forgot to put my maiden name on it, so it only has my married name but NVC accepted it. I am still thinking of getting a regular rcmp check done in my maiden name as well. Maybe it was a false rfe, hopefully when you call they can explain it to you. Good luck

RCMP Police Certificate - issued Jan 27, 2010

Moved out of Canada - Mar 30, 2010

I don't know if they require a police certificate that covers the time of issue (Jan 27) and the time I moved (Mar 30). Wouldn't that be counter to the one year validity that RCMP police certificates have? There's nothing on the

Actually, there's nothing on the RCMP police certificate that says how long it's valid for unlike the Philippine NBI clearance that explicitly states "valid for one year from date of issue." I only know/assume that an RCMP police certificate is valid for one year based on what I've read here. Is there a website (RCMP/DoS) that says for how long an RCMP police certificate is valid?

They don't say how long its valid for, it is NVC that says it is valid for one year of issuance.

They are "good" for immigration purposes for a year, all Canadian police checks "expire" the same day you get them, as they cant guarantee you wont murder someone tomorrow lol. But for the immigration side of it as long as it was issued within a year (and it was) you should be good. Hopefully you can get some answers from NVC when you call, if you do, let us know!

Yes, it was signed.

In the box that says name and rank, the RCMP wrote "E. Go me xxxxx." (xxxxx = Reg. no.)

What rank is an "me"? Sorry, the name, rank and number were script handwritten. "Me" was how I read it. It could be "Ml" for all I know.

ME stands for Municipal Employee, AKA admin staff.

I hope the NVC will have the same interpretation as you and I have (i.e., that the police certificate is good for immigration purposes for one year).

I went back to the DoS website http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html#police for NVC Processing. There is a sentence that says the police certificate must "Cover the entire period of the applicant’s residence in that area", If that is the case, then I really do have to get another RCMP police certificate. Foolish me. I've wasted several months (when I could have gotten a new RCMP police certificate) because I thought the one year validity applies to the RCMP police certificate as well.

I am getting my fingerprints and mailing them to RCMP Ottawa tomorrow. The RCMP website says it takes an ave of 120 days to process fingerprints. Sad, :( but that's life sometimes.

My Philippine NBI clearance does not cover the entire period of my residence here.

NBI clearance was issued Nov 25, 2009

Returned to the Phils Mar 30, 2010

So my NBI clearance does not cover my stay here from March 31 to present. But I guess the NBI clearance bypassed that "cover the entire period of the applicant's residence" requirement by adding a "valid for one year from date of issue" statement on the clearance itself.

I haven't been able to contact the NVC yet and I've been trying to call them since monday. It's always busy (and I call at 30-min to hourly intervals).

Anyway, I'm mailing my request letter to the RCMP today. It took quite a while because I had to wait for the fingerprint examiner of the provincial crime lab here who was not on duty on monday.

FYI, for those who are currently outside Canada and need to get an RCMP police certificate. The information on the Canada Reciprocity Schedule website is out of date. You have to check the RCMP website itself for the correct mailing address and the processing fee. The Canada Reciprocity Schedule website gives an incorrect mailing address, processing fee and RCMP URL.
