Student Loans

Hi!

I have student loans that have been deferred and earned a lot of interest while I was going through graduate school and another degree. It's way past due although I've started paying for it.

Will it affect my K1 Visa Petition? I have a stable job as a nurse, and above the poverty line, although I may end up paying for my student loans for a long long time.

We are just worried because we sent our I-129F last July 19, 2010 and the check was cleared on the 27th, but until now we haven't got any NOA1 in the mail or the email. It's been almost a month, and we see people here receiving their NOA1 a day or two after they send it.

We'd appreciate any help with this.

I asked about this in the AoS topic as well. My student loans are in bad shape and it's affected my credit score considerably. I was told they don't do a credit check, but I'm concerned as well.

They do not run a credit check. They will not see your student loans. If they did, most the rest of us would be hurting too.

I have over $150,000 in student loans and am not rich. It never came up at all during the AOS process - they just cared about my current income.

Thanks a lot guys! This is a big relief. Now we just have to wait for our NOA1 to come. We hope that it didn't get lost. The case number isn't at the back of the check, so we really have to wait for the NOA1.
