Have you guys visit Danang? If you have, what do you recommend doing for fun there? Basically, I am probably going to visit the beach everyday and spent time with my wife.

Yeap, Danang is cool. The weather is nice and people are very friendly. If you have a change go to Hue is more fun.

I have been to Hue twice as a tourist. I could not help but feel that there is nothing to do there besides visiting the old palaces.

I passed by Danang on my way to Hoi An from Hanoi and Hue. so I can't comment on that. However, if you have extra time I do recommend Hoi An which is about 45 mins from Danang. Beautiful beaches, cheaper food, and people there are really nice. I've been to many places in Vietnam, and in my opinion Hoi An is my favorite. It's a smaller town so my wife and I just spent most of our time at the beaches and befriended with the locals. We hired a motorbike and drove around time. It was great!

When I was in Hue, I went to the DMZ tour. I think it's like 2 hours from Hue, but they drive you to and from. I particularly liked the tunnel, but don't go if you're claustrophobic. I also went to some traditional musical on the Hương River.

I heard Hoi An is nice also. The DMZ tour sound very interesting, considering I am a history buff.

fyi, the tour guide i had seemed very loyal to country. also, somewhat crude humor too (maybe offensive to some, particularly females). some stops were very short, ben hai river, we just drove across it, didn't even stop. let me know if you want more info about tour. i'm sure there are other companies that have tours too.

Thank. I'll let you know. I am not planning to visit Hue anytime soon.

Take a day and go to Ba Na, in the mountains just outside Da Nang. The cable tram ride will take about 20 minutes, but it provides some breathless views of the jungle, rivers, waterfalls, etc. The hotel and restaurants weren't finished yet when we were there last year, but they're finished now. There are lots of great trails, awesome views, and a very cool pagoda with a huge sitting Buddha statue.

You can get stuck for several hours at the top if it happens to rain with lightening. They won't run the tram when there's lightening. We were stuck in the tram station for about two hours.

My fiancée is from Da Nang, so I've had the chance to visit there several times. I've enjoyed the more relaxed feeling compared to HCMC or Hanoi - the bank of the Han River is a pleasant place to stroll in the evenings (the bridge there is supposed to rotate at midnight if you're still out and about). The Cham sculpture museum is the main tourist attraction and does have a nice collection if you enjoy that kind of thing, and the Marble Mountains just south of town on the way to Hoi An are worth a stop. We had the same experience vising Ba Na last year while the construction was still going on, but the tram was impressive and the evening campfire was pretty enjoyable. Hope that helps!

I'm not sure that it is actually possible to camp up at Ba Na (perhaps bonfire is a better description than campfire). Sorry for any confusion.

I'm not sure I'd want to camp there. There are things in that jungle that will scare the pants off of most Americans. My wife's uncle caught a giant red centipede in an empty water bottle while we were walking on one of the trails. They planned to cook it, but he told me that one bite from that thing is deadly.
