Dip,
i will advice you to seek the help of a senator, pay no attention to any processing date. what i did with respect to my fiancee petition was to contact a congressional office, they came back with the response saying "Your petition is still within the processing time" i said to myself this is the same message i got from the uscis reps. What i later did was to go to a different state senators office with the faxed copy of my fiancee police report she got when she was attacked at gun point by armed robbers on are way from work one night and other valid evidences that are life is in danger. The immigration liason contacted the congressman at NBC who put in a request for my wife's petition to be approved immediately. I worked with four different senators in two different states to get my petition approved. i hope this insight will help you to complete your journey.

I wish I could do what you did but the thing is my husbands life is not in danger he has not been robbed or any thing like that in the UK. I think that the situation that your wife was put in was a heavy factor for the senetors to get the ball rolling. If I asked for help like you at this point, I feel that we are empty handed because nothing of that sort has happened to us (Thank God). Im really sorry your wife had to go through all of that. The only thing that we have is that we are going on almost 6 months and we have no news on our applications. About little over a month ago I did try to get help from my senetor but I just got a responce saying that even though he is a senator for Texas I did not live in his district so he would just foward my request to the correct office. So you see even a senetor in my own state would not help because I did not live in his district? How in the world did you get senators from other states to help you please advice! After my request for help was sent to the other office I did not persue any thing because I was adviced to at least wait the 6 months or for my application to be out processing times or else they would not be so incliend to help. =0( Dec 18 will be the 6 months for I130 the I129F is due in Jan. I will be sending my request for help on dec18. Im really really hoping that we have good news for my birthday, which is before the 18th.

initially i spoke to the two senators assigned to my state MASSACHUSETTS both democrat, one of them said we are working on other issues received from previous month (september), while i faxed my request on october, the other one just collected my informations on the phone without giving me an audience. Summary they were both disinterested in helping. But my wife kept complaining, so i took a day off from work and drove down to rhode-island (ONE HOUR DRIVE) to speak to the two senators.The receptions of both were excellent despite the fact that i didn't have an appointment prior to my meeting them. one was a democrat while the other a republican. The republican was the most active despite losing his senatorial seat during the mid-term elections. they initially sent an e-mail to the congressman at nbc, who replied that my application is still within processing deadline, i replied back to them to please send an expedite request to nbc, lo and behold they did exactly that. They called my cell phone to give me the news that my case has been approved long before nbc/uscis updated the website.They initially asked why i didn't go to my state representatives, i answered they are just too big and busy to attend to a petty immigration issue, one of the even lectured me that i should go and wait. My prayer for you is hope,strenght, courage and joy in the midst of longing desire to be with your love one.

We have been married 2 and a half years. We were married in Tijuana, Mexico. We submitted the I-130 this year in September. We received the NOA stating our receipt date was 2 October, 2006. At the time the processing date at the California Service Center said 16 May, 2006. Ok, so we had a few months to wait. I resigned to making a long commute including crossing the border.

When USCIS updated their processing time page on 5 December, 2006, it now says 16 March, 2005 !!!!! 15 months longer wait than before. Could this be a typo??? How could they be losing time unless they just found several thousand petitions that were misplaced?

Any help, comments, suggestions?

My thought was that maybe the processing dates were a typo, but in case you don't know... the USCIS processing timelines are NOT an accurate reflection of actual processing times, instead they show the oldest file that USCIS still hasn't processed.

Check out the I130 approval thread in the I130 forum, OR look at the timelines on this site, they are much more helpful in getting an estimated timeline.

Finally, it is generally 8 months to a year for the entire process, having the I130 petition approved is just the first step. Good luck with it all.
